It's an excellent, solid standard mailbox post. It's not so heavy that a car going off the road would wrap around it. The negative is that a mailbox is installed with 4 large, long, philips panhead screws. You need a large driver, and an angle, battery powered drill makes it easy.

I used this with a 4375 mailbox. The mount needed a 3 foot hole to get that mailbox at the correct height. Once installed it is rock solid. Unfortunately the mailbox isn't, so it's a bit of a letdown - but there is nothing wrong with this mount.

Place some dry quikcrete around it, add water, let it cure overnight, and you’ll get a solid mailbox post that is corrosion resistance. Best post I’ve ever used. Blows the standard 4x4 wood post out of the water.

The post is 60 inches long end to end. When you mount the mailbox for the post, the mailbox should be 41 to 45 inches above the ground per the Postal service guidelines. I wanted to have at least 24 inches of the post in the ground to have a solid foundation. When I build something ,I overdue do it,so I took a pressure treated 4x4 and cut it down to slide inside the aluminum tube . I cut the (4x4) 60 inches also and slid it inside the tube so about 6 inches of the board was sticking out from the bottom. That gave me 6 extra inches that I wanted to get the depth I needed to cement it into the ground. I added a 1/4 x 1 galvanized lag bolt to prevent 4x4 sliding into the post too far. You need to have at least two inches clearance inside the post so you can mount your mailbox to the top of the post. After all the extra work this was well worth the expense and I hope I never have to replace it again. The post looks very nice and makes for a much smaller surface to hit with the snow and Ice by the plow trucks.

This is a great mailbox post but I'm dinging a star for the mounting hardware, four 5/16" - 18 x 2" Phillips panhead bolts. The bolts were a very tight fit with the holes in the post. Not only did it take a lot of force to get these large bolts screwed into the holes, you had to do it within the confines of a mailbox. You need either a very short Phillips screwdriver with a large head or a 90-degree ratchet screwdriver. Our team of neighbors who took turns inside the mailbox agreed that the installation would have been much easier with socket-head bolts .

This post is 5 feet long, so that leaves about 1.5 feet extra in the concrete in the ground. When I first received this post I was impressed at how solid and beefy it is. I doubt vandals will have an easy time breaking this one, instead it would probably break their bats if they tried to mess with it. There are 4 holes at the top to mount the mailbox. The hole lined up fine for me. This includes 4 bolts and plastic bushings. Also this is made in the USA, not like the flimsy China junk posts at the home improvement stores.
