Awesome lens for the money! Decently sharp images, fast aperture, but with some distortion and vegnetting, but nothing that can’t be cleaned up in Lightroom! Good lens for the money!

I think it is a perfect 35mm prime lens. I have used Canon, Nikon, and Sony, but I find this to be the best lens. The bokeh is exceptionally beautiful. It is affordable. The sharpness, weight, and all other aspects are excellent.

I was expecting high quality images as I read several reviews that attested to this. It delivers in every way. It's small, compact, and lightweight which works perfectly with my a7c. I usually use sony or tamron lenses and have never been disappointed. I'm glad I can add samyang to the list. I wish I had bought this prior to my trip to Egypt as it would have stayed on my camera as it has since.

I have had AWFUL luck with budget lenses for my a7iii. I FINALLY found one I like. The colors it pulls are amazing. The AF is better than any of my Sigma lenses. I would give this 10 out of 5 stars if I could.

I watched countless reviews before going with the Samyang over the Sony 35mm 1.8, but I should have forked up the extra $$$ and gone with the Sony. Now, it's likely I just have a defective lens, but the shots went from bright, colorful, etc. to lacking focus, clarity and at times just a blank screen.I've tried other lenses to confirm and the camera is working just fine. I could have received a bad lens, but if this is an indicator of the quality I am not impressed.

I couldn’t be happier. I opted out of the Sony 35 to save $$ as I thought I wouldn’t use this as much as my 85, more of a “I’ve got it if I need it” kind of thing. I’m now using it as much as any other lens!Super sharp at 1.8 and I can’t see any flaws at the f7-8 sweet spots. Auto focus is as fast as my Sony 85 1.8 and Sigma 24-70 and keeps continuous focus locked in as expected. Also, it’s light. Really light. And compact. I took it to the Nashville Farmers Market for some street / people shots and it was not invasive at all (that 24-70 can be intimidating). It’s just an all around pleasure. Some people complain that the build seems cheap, but it seems rugged enough and in exchange for “build feel” you get a sharp lens that’s easy to work with.In sort, buy it… you won’t regret it.

I like the simple and light weight design of the lens. Some might not like that it is plastic but I don’t mind at all. The plastic build is still very nice. I use this lens for wide open at 1.8 in both video and photos and I love the picture quality. I was thinking to get the Sony 35mm 1.8 but I’m very pleased I decided to get this less expensive option.

Plastic feel is fine. Odd dial for switching from manual to autofocus. Labeled mode 1 and mode 2 custom on lens. Confusing a bit but meh. Night shots went fine. I bought this as my 50mm was too tight, and the 20mm too wide, this 35mm feels just right like the 3 bears bed. :) 3 perfect primes. I think the next will be a telephoto lens 100-600mm to complete the lens set. Next is definitely some variable nd filters. I’m looking forward to more tests with video and photo.

I recently sold my Samyang 50mm 1.4 FE and made a switch to 35mm 1.8 FE for my Sony A7iii. Main driver was the weight. I wanted something light for my Sony A7iii for gimbal use and this lens did not disappoint me. It's very light and small comparatively and focusing is very quiet for video use. It also takes sharp photos. I'll attach couple of photos here.

This lens is sharp and autofocuses fast. Great lens for a hobbyist. I would recommend to anyone looking for a light, cheap lens that takes sharp images.
