I am not pleased the threader was not included because it said there was one included in the listing. Kinda frustrating because I would have really liked a needle threader.However these Hidamari Sashiko Needles are very high quality Japanese made needles. They work great, last for a while, plenty sharp, and you get a little variety in sizes. I am pretty hard on needles and these work very well for what I do. I would recommend these needles to the newcomer or old timer. Great for T shirt repair to denim or canvas these will do the trick for your Sashiko needs.

Using for big stitch hand quilting and I love it. I have only used the smallest one and it is holding up nicely. The eye doesn't tear my thread and the point is just sharp enough. I would buy again.

Really nice small set of needles, not dull and easy to work with. The package surprisingly came with a bag/purse holder as well.

The needles are perfect but a great surprise came when I saw they were shipped from Shibori Dragon the most beautiful quilt and textile art store I ever visited. Love that place! Great selection and wonderful service.

I was back and forth between a few different brands and ended up ordering, one of the reasons being for the golden colored eyes to help differentiate the Sashiko needles from my others so I wouldn't accidentally get them mixed. I've so far only used the shortest for embroidery on denim, but have been impressed with the sharpness and strength of the needle. The eye is large enough to (with some technique) thread a full 6-strand embroidery floss through the eye.The needle threader that came with the pack is a joke, as most threaders are (at least, in my hands), and I tore it apart the first time I tried to use it. It and the needle eyes just aren't compatible with a doubled floss thread, I can't imagine it holding up too well against Sashiko thread either.I do wish the lovely gold around the eyes was more durable. It rubbed off within 60 stitches. Passing through the denim material was apparently abrasive enough the gold became a mere hint of its former self, so I have to carefully re-package the needle to keep it apart from my others.Overall, the needle has performed well, and I do recommend them if you're looking for good, thick, sturdy needles. The variety pack is fantastic for selecting what works best for your project.
