As an important component of modern clutch systems, the release system, the connection between pedal and clutch, has a decisive influence on the driving experience. To ensure that the clutch is easy to operate and that the power flow can be safely metered, all components of the release system must work perfectly together. The clutch slave cylinder is the final component and positioned at the end of the hydraulic clutch system. In a semi-hydraulic version, it is always located outside the gearbox bell housing and serves to actuate the release bearing via a release fork. In fully hydraulic conversions, the function of the release mechanism on the transmission side is taken over by a concentric slave cylinder. The advantage of this over conventional release systems is that fewer components are needed, as release bearings and concentric slave cylinders are no longer required. Under its LuK brand, Schaeffler has played a decisive role in the development of hydraulic clutch actuation technology. Today, the company also offers all components of the release system as spare parts for the independent market in case of a defect, certainly in the usual OE quality. These clutch replacement parts can be used for various models of Car, Truck, SUV & Van, Motorcycles & Scooters as well as ATVs & UTVs. Please check for the correct build, year, and model before buying.

My 20 year old Xterra is shifting fine now . I'm glad the slave cylinder isn't INSIDE the transmission ( as seems to be the case with some other types of manual transmissions where they apparently want to make it impossible to replace this without major effort).

Replaced the leaking slave cylinder with this Luk replacement on a 2002 Nissan Frontier 2.4L. Fit perfectly and we were able to bleed the system and have the truck back on the road within an hour. Hopefully this one will last longer than the last replacement (it lasted 7 months). I highly recommend to bleed out all the old fluid and replace it with a synthetic DOT-3 brake fluid. The fluid deteriorates over time and attracts moisture and should be bled out anytime the clutch hydraulic system is opened up for repair. Also, when removing the old slave cylinder, Break the hydraulic fitting loose with a line wrench before you remove the unit from the transmission. It's going to be tight and needs to be stationary to apply the torque needed. Also, open the bleed screw of the new unit prior to installation for easier installation.
