Great fix to our broken door

This device is a perfect replacement of the old one with the needed color for the face plate. It is not difficult to install. However, removing the face plate from the device took some guess work. But I was able to use a flathead screw driver to remove the faceplate from the locking device for a different faceplate.

Our deadlatch jammed (a known failure) and rather than have to replace the entire knob set, we just purchased this replacement for the deadlatch and saved ourselves $70+. Thank you!

Latch replaced a broken one. Installed in about 10 minutes and worked well first time.

One day our 15 year old latch began refusing to retract in our expensive electronic door lock system. We thought for sure that we'd need to invest in a brand new unit until we looked into just replacing this part. So glad we tried this replacement latch idea first. That was the only problem and now its working like new!

We had our first Schlage keyed latch fail after 17-years of use. I removed the broken latch and inspected it to see what failed and what needed to be done to fix the problem. A small piece of the internal mechanism had broken, requiring the entire latch to be replaced. I did a quick Google search and “AMAZON” has a third party seller with the latch required to repair the Schlage keyed door handle. I initially purchased one keyed latch and after receiving the part and noting it is an exact replacement, I ordered two more, to have on hand. And yes, I’m that kind of person - who purchases spare parts and stores them for future use. I look at it as cheap insurance. Please note, if you have a helper to give you a hand, makes the repair much easier by installing the screws while you hold the 3-pieces together. Repair steps: (1) remove the two latch screws located on doors end. (2) Remove the two screws holding the inner and outer door handles together, located above and below the inner door handle. (3) separate the two handles by pulling them apart., this will allow you to remove the broken latch. (Please note orientation of the handles and latch as you remove them) (4) Remove the broken latch and replace it with the replacement. (5) Guide the handles back together. (Be sure to check alignment) (6) while holding all together, install the two door handle screws. (7) install the two latch screws and check latch operation. Keeping the door open during the replacement and operational check. If working correctly, close the door and recheck the operation.

Worked out great. Looks to be a Schlage brand replacement.

Easy installation. Great fit. My one complaint is that the picture shows a brushed nickel finish on the plate you can see on the door side. It’s not that color. In my case, I was able to take the plate off the old latch and replace the new one with that. Change the picture or, better yet, have the product look like the picture.
