Ever wish that the tile in your bathroom didn't freeze your feet as soon as you step on it after a hot shower? Enter Schluter-DITRA-HEAT, a brand new offering from Schluter that aims to make your bathroom one step closer to perfect. Schluter-DITRA uncoupling membranes already keep your tile safe from unnecessary breakage - DITRA-HEAT takes this one step further and adds a radiant floor warming system to the layer beneath your tile. This all inclusive kit includes the under-tile membranes, heating wire, and thermostat you will need to install the heating system. All that's left is the tile of your choosing! Product Features Tile Uncoupling Membrane Schluter-DITRA-HEAT membranes carry over all the functionality of Schluter-DITRA uncoupling membranes. The membrane functions as a flexible layer between your tile and the rigid subfloor underneath it, significantly reducing tile breakage and eliminating grout problems. Schluter Ditra Heat Kit DHEKRT12056 includes: Ditra Heat Cable DHEHK12038 (37.5 sq ft. 120V), 7x Ditra Heat Membrane Sheets ( 58.8 sq ft ), Ditra Heat Programmable Touchscreen Thermostat DHERT102/BW, 2x Floor Heat Sensors

Heating system works great. I am working on adding to my other bathrooms. I would say the instruction should have shorter revision and be straight to the point.

The product was supplied and delivered in only a few days. Good on the supplier. As for the manufacturer there are some issues I'd fix if I were manufacturing this. First off is the cold lead on the heat cable. If you install the transfer module (cold to hot cable) at the bottom of the wall below the thermostat location (standard sensor height 5') you need to shorten the cable by about 12" to 18" so it can fit in the electrical box with the T Stat. The ground cable looks like a stranded cable but its not. After the 1st few inches the cable becomes a type of mesh or shield of fine wire that wraps around the conductors below the exterior jacket. When you cut through the jacket to shorten the cable you cut the mesh and loose the ground wire! You now have no way to ground the cable properly. The terminal block for the sensors on the T Stat is so small and located at the bottom of the circuit board. Very difficult to see the opening to get the small little sensor wire in place. Recommend terminating the sensor wire before mounting the T Stat.Even with the recommended deep electrical box there is no room for the cable (without cutting) the T Stat (very large) and other wire that must be installed in the box.

I have it retract my negative review. At 1st it didn’t heat up. Electrician came back & fixed.Run down: The install was not easy when it comes to electrical, using ohm meter etc. The Physical install of wires and the pads are a breeze. Use a good tile person for that. Lesson learned: use a GC to avoid he said he said blame if it doesn't work. Watch sal’s YouTube video! Also, MAKE sure you check everything with ohm meter. I did EVERYthing to a T so I KNEW something was wrong with the thermostat when it failed. Electrician came back, re-wired the box & it now works. This isn’t supposed to heat the room but to me it does. Warm tile floors make me want to do angels like I’m in the snow. It’s amazing & a life changer. I love these floors. The thermostat is USER friendly. Wish more people knew how to install in SF Bay Area but overall I say this is a good buy but the installation people are key. GET PROS to do this.

My husband installed this in our bathroom underneath our new waterproof flooring he installed. I didn't really think it was necessary. I am glad he didn't listen to me! It is so nice to walk into the bathroom and fill the warm floor! Works wonderfully! The programmable thermostat is so easy to set up, so you when you know you do not need to have the floor warming (while you are at work) it is off! Love it!

I am a DIY homeowner who installed this under a new tile floor. I found the installation to be rather straight forward. Hooked up the thermostat and everything worked. Warm floors are nice.

Nice system with everything you need for a heated floor. Installed this in my kitchen and now I have a nice warm floor. Easy to install and good videos from the company online to help you successfully install. This was a 100% DIY project and so far it works great. Make sure of the square footage of your area. This kit allowed me to heat the main work area of my kitchen floor that is over a cold crawl space.

The Ditra system is really pricey (although the price on Amazon was excellent, Home Depot wants almost 50 % more money for exactly the same set), but Schluter, called Schlüter in Germany, where they have had a stellar reputation for years, is the perfect example of a German quality product: sturdy material, brilliant engineering, precise execution and sophisticated function (not to mention slightly over-abundant product information…). The price as a set, by the way, is still much cheaper than buying the components individually. The thermostat alone in the programmable touchscreen version is over $200! My contractor was very favorably impressed by the system, which he did not know, and said there is no comparison with some flimsy alternatives available on the market,Be aware, though, that the system will not cover the whole surface of a very large bathroom. Mine is just a bit over 90 sqft, and after deducting the footprint of the tub, shower, toilet bowl and vanity + a stripe roughly 8” wide along the walls, it covered what was left almost exactly. Please take into account, by the way, that if you lay tiles over the whole surface, as one usually does, you will need additional mats without wiring to achieve a consistent height. So you will have to buy some extra mat material (which is not cheap for what it is) on Amazon, eBay, or at a DIY store that carries the product (be aware that it must be Ditra Heat; the normal Ditra decoupling membrane is cheaper, but thinner).
