So I got my down rigger today, I was excited and immediately put it together and tested it. First problem, it spooled out the wire and it became a tangled mess as it went in reverse??! Then I smell a slight burn and realize something is shorting out, I open it up and I see the neutral wire has a gash in it?! Extremely poor quality control on Scotty’s part. To top it off it was wired in reverse hence the spool going backwards. I was just floored by this! Will I return it, no as I can fix it but buyer beware, absolutely disappointed!!

I've been using these down riggers for over three years now in all sorts of weather, and have yet to have an issue.I've set my riggers up to be the least intrusive to the boat as possible, e.g. gimbal mount adapter, trolling battery with customized power cord, etc. They look and perform amazing.The auto feature is a must in 200+ FOW. The 60" boom is strong and necessary to get past my 3' swim platform. Amazingly, the power consumed pulling up 12 and 16lb balls is minimal. I use a separate trolling battery and it only needs a good 5 minute top off charge after a day of fishing.I've fished in all sorts of weather 35 degrees, raining, snow, fog, etc. These riggers have stood up well. I highly recommend these riggers, especially for anyone who wants the ability to remove and store them conveniently after use.

Bought 2 of these for my husband for the salmon fishing. It was a great price. He loves them. He doesn’t have to crank anything by hand. Kept him busy fishing while I relaxed in a quiet home ;)

This is the best, most affordable electric down rigging system I have seen on the market yet. Bought 2 and plan to get 2 more later this summer. Easy to use, mounted the brackets myself and have been reeling in the fish!
