Looks and feels sturdy enough but I haven't had it in the water yet.

Had no issues with it during our dive. It worked good for the price.

Works OK, but a little too sensitive to being level. I know many dive compasses are like that, but this one is really sensitive to being level. Easy to use and nice large numbers. I prefer the single clip version (took out the second clip on this one), although I used some shrink tubing to fix the clip closed and used a simple key ring on that end for a double clip while diving.

I brought this to complete my advanced open water scuba certification. When practicing with my instructor the compass kept sticking and would not point north. If it won’t work correctly on dry land and likely wouldn’t work underwater. We took no chances and I used my instructors. It was too late to return when I experienced this. Now I have a “Jack Sparrow” paper weight compass. Just what I wanted…

It's no comparison to the Suunto S8 compass. The degree markers are very difficult to read. The dial in the window is way too short. You almost have to hold it over your head in order to be able to see it. I will say the retractor cable works very well and seems to be a good quality. If it weren't for the difficulty of being able to read it I would have given it high marks. But seeing that reading the compass is the main purpose I really can't give it a good review.

Works well if kept flat. I'm using it in the north (Canada). Shining a light on it keeps it glowing long enough to navigate at night.

Doesn’t hold true. Don’t bother - probably dangerous

I wish to return this compass. It was used three times and thereafter, it failed to find true north and did not allow me to navigate a simple square area at depth in a swimming pool.

Love this compass-- super easy to see even on night dives and I love that it has not one but two clips on it to attach it to your BC and also attach other things as well (I put my flashlight on the other end). Great value for a dive compass

Bought this when I was taking an advanced open water diving course. On one of our dives we had to use a compass to search a standard pattern, and this compass was able to guide us around and get us back to within 3 feet of our starting position. The dial rotates at 5 degree increments, and for the price, was a pretty handy tool to have.

Very difficult to use on surface. The side view is not large or clear enough. Works fine under water with top-down view. But I need to be able to get my bearing on surface first, and I found it very, very difficult to do. Note that this compass (and I'm assuming most) is extremely sensitive to the proximity of other objects, including my diving light and wrist diving computer. You need to hold it away from your body and all objects to get a good reading. Close to light, BCD, or computer swayed the reading by 30 degrees or more, sometimes more than 90. I'm sure that's true for most compasses, not a fault of this one, but a lesson worth sharing. My only complaint is the difficulty reading on the surface.
