I'm a scuba instructor and I tell all my students not to use this style clip.A standard bolt-snap has to be manually opened, which is fine. These clips can get caught on a line if there line bumps into the clip. On something like a lift dive this can be extremely dangerous.There's a reason we refer to these clips and carabiners as "suicide clips".

I use this as a key chain holder. Clips right to my belt loop. Works perfectly.

I am a scuba instructor and I use it to hang my slates.This snap bolt is a piece of beauty and definitely performs as expected.It is about three times more expensive than its brass brethren which are just as good.But after spending so much money on scuba gear, another $15 will not break the bank.We shall see about its longevity.
