This works as it's designed to do. Catch crabs. Larger than average size , will hold larger bait pieces ( chicken necks , bait fish) so baiting lasts longer.

BOTTOM LINE: This crab throw line is priced right. It’s simple, and very cheap.RATING: Giving 4 stars because the line/string (which isn’t very thick and not rigid at all) gets tangled very easily.DETAILS: While trying to unwrap this string when brand new you’ll even have some trouble keeping it untangled. My advice is to have a string/line wrap to accompany this throw line, which would keep it from getting untangled (think: something like a kite string wrap.. you could even just use a piece of scrap wood). If you wanted to just use this as a weight and/or bait holder for a crap trap you can cut the string off and just attach to the crab trap.DO YOU RECOMMEND: Yes, the value is there despite its weaknesses.

The knot it comes with is a simple slip knot and it will slip off on the first cast, make sure you tie a better knot. Other than that, good product.

Knot came undone! Lost the weight and the chicken thigh :( Let this be a lesson and cut the knots off and tie a polomar or a professional knot before using.

As a kid, I never knew these existed... and maybe they didn't back then. However, as an adult, they make crabbing by hand so much easier! From placing the chicken breast or leg on to weighing it down a little, the line, weight and little hooky thingy work great! My youngest son and I have had a blast. :)

Used this for hand lining from a pier with chicken necks. We had several other lines without weights on the end and just one of these with the weight. We caught more crabs on this line than any of the others. It keeps the bait on the bottom, where the crabs are. It also makes it easy to attach the chicken neck. Plan to buy more.

I'm purchasing my 2nd set of these. Other users reviewed saying the line is bad, and they're right, it's not the best. We've used these about a dozen times since I bought them and we've pulled far more crab with these than with my baskets or my pot. I'll be changing the line out with paracord, but ultimately it's a weight with a string, people act like they're buying diamonds. They caught me far more crab than what I paid for them. A+

I like these a lot! The clip makes it much easier to get bait on and off. The string is a bit sub standard, but we replace our strings often anyway so not much of a deal breaker there. These keep the bait on the bottom, and that's where the crabs are. Oddly enough, I've even caught catfish with these.
