The replacement orange cap fit just like the original which slipped off and disappeared into the depths because it is pressure fit not screwed on. The boat hook was a huge disappointment - the twist lock/unlock mechanism failed - one wouldn’t lock, the other wouldn’t loosen. After reading many reviews on Amazon I did what others have done and put a screw in the loose connection and ended up with a fixed 6 foot boat hook. Too bad because it was a very nice boat hook while it worked.
