Firstly, this scanner is designed for scanning smaller objects and at close range like 10-300mm. The example I have is a scan of a 3dbenchy, which is a quite challenging scan due to the shading of internal parts, and the shininess of the plastic,What impressed me about the capabilities, if you notice, is the scan picked up the ringging on the side of the 3d print (the waviness on the surface), this waviness is very minor and can barely be seen in reflected light. i tred to capture this in the real pics of the benchy.I included pics of both the results of the initial scans, which was 5 scans, and then the textured version which was two additional scans to make textured versions.so although it picked up those minor variations in the surface, the sharp angles in the wording on the bottom of the benchy, and on the smoke stack are rounded. the scanner is capable of very accurate detection of minute surface variations, but, sharp transitions got rounded... now this might be something that can be changed in a software setting or in how it is processed. The software has a quick start tutorial and a decent walkthrough of the processes. though it is well worth the time to dig a bit deeper and learn about the features of the software.note that my scan did not capture the internals of the wheelhouse of the benchy well. With more scans, this could be resolved, but does show one of the challenges you can face using the scanner.accuracy of the scan was excellent.this is an excellent 3d scanner, I think the images speak for themselves.

I do a lot of 3D printing, and I'd been wanting to pick up a 3D scanner for some time now, primarily for parts replication and modification post scan. Recently I gave the 3D MakerPro Mole scanner a shot, but overall, I had results that were less than desirable, and while technically it did work, I had a pretty good loss of detail and I consistently had to apply a lot of post processing work. I was starting to wonder if 3D scanners under a thousand dollars were going to be worth it at all, until I tried this one. While it isn't perfect, this is a very good scanner that captures a good deal of detail and consistently has good results.Pros:+ JM Studio software is simple to use but has many powerful features. As a significant part of the work is handled by the software, this is just as important as the scanner that captures the point cloud images.+ Good working range and does an excellent job of capturing small to medium sized objects, though it is capable of scanning much larger, you are limited by the cable.+ Captures quite a bit of detail with the point cloud, and with the software you can control the results of your final render. See example attached images.+ Nice compact size is easy to manipulate, and the included extending tripod is a nice touch.Cons:- No included storage case of any kind other than the box itself.- No turntable, or option for using the scanner to capture larger objects.- Captures good detail, but it can get noisy in post. It would be nice if there was a better way to capture and process the results without so much noise.Overall, I'm very happy with this 3D scanner. I'm able to consistently get good results when scanning things by hand, and the level of detail I'm capturing surpasses that of the Mole scanner by the same company. It does get a bit messy when you try to get too much detail, so if you can live with a bit of simplification of detailed objects or handle a cleanup in post, you'll be fine. While I'd love to see more detail without having to deal with as much noise, this is the first 3D scanner I've found to actually be pretty useful, and one I think is worthy of serious consideration.

I've been using 3D scanners for over a decade, and consider myself pretty good at it.I've spent days with this scanner, it's a huge disappointment. The advertised .05 mm resolution is a joke. It fails on small objects.! Won't align larger objects. Regularly loses it's way and disconnects. There are multiple on line reports of the same problem, so I suspect it's the technology itself.Support is "leave your name and number, we'll call you back". No email, just a phone recording. Support is on Beijjiing time, so they eventually call back, but at night. Like 10 o'clock EST, without warning. Finally, despite being unable to get a good scan after two hours of trying themselves, they blame me for the failure. And have no interest in sovling the problem. They gave upm now just tell me to "watch this video". So they know it doesn't work as advertised. The image I attach is about .8 cm (4 inches) tall and is from an unmodified scan of the bones of a bird wing, which is a resolution test. Needs clean up, but usable. It was done on an iPhone SE second generation running PhotoCatch Pro. Took about 3 minutes to scan, maybe 10 for cloud processing. $9.95 a month for the Pro version. Free for the standard edition, which will do for most people. Cancel at any time. Reup when you need it.There's no comparison scan from Seal since the Seal couldn't even see it, despite hours of trying every available setting in the sw and many backgrounds, including in a light box. Support says the "object is too small". Scans of objects that it will see are no better than what you get with a smartphone. The favorable reviews are from reviewers who got free product, or have low resolution objects, or very modest requirements, for which they're paying way too much. No one needs this scanner. NO ONE!Infuriatingly bad on every level. Returned. Good riddance.
