As I only had small diameter alloy oars normal rollocks were too big. These adjustable clamp on's were terrific. Did the job I wanted and enabled me to row effectively.

Heavy duty (Able to tie a boat anchor line on it without issue when I need to shorten the line in a hurry) and other than recommending some locktite to keep the bolts on since they can sometimes loosen up a bit it works great.

Came apart on the first boating trip and I had a heck of a time getting back to shore! Not sure if this was just a defective one or what.

I had a difficult time finding oar locks to work on a pair of oars I had made with 2" shafts. Other makes had thinner steel. I questioned the purchase. When they showed up, I was very pleased. They are as stout as I am, 6'-5" 280 pounds! I had snapped a bronze U oar lock a few months back. The ring oar locks with oar stops beat the crap out of the wood i put the locks into. These clamp on the oars to eliminate slip and the inherent hammering of the oar and stop against the oar lock and boat body. Feathering the oars isn't something I bother with on my little fishing boat. Having the oarlocks clamped in place also eliminates the occasional chin strike that happens when reeling in a fish while being slammed by the 2' wake of a 40 foot yacht.

The good first. They do seam to be heavy duty which is why I selected this set. They do fit a 1/2 inch oar lock bracket and clamp around a 1 1/2 inch wooden oar.The not so good. The top bolts are way too long when used with a 1 1/2 inch oar. The head of the bolt is 12mm and the nut is 13mm which is a little screwy. Also it comes with plain hex nuts which would easily loosen with a little rowing. It needs locking nuts. I replaced the bolts with shorter bolts and lock nuts. The bottom bolts are too short. So short that the nuts don't go on completely. The bolt head size is 9/16 inch and the nut is 5/8 inch which is also a little screwy. These also need to be locking nuts. I replaced the bolts with longer bolts and lock nuts.

Tighten up the bottom bolt first. Then tighten the top 1 you won't have any trouble with the bolts being too short or too long these locks work great and they are not cheaply made they should last you for a lifetime if you take care of themGood luck catch a big one. Mike

Larger than i needed, but after searching for 1 3/8 oar lock with no luck, I built up the shaft with duct tape and the oar lock fit securly. I think the smallest shaft this model fits is 1 1/2".Easy to install

First, the bolt that goes through the swivel on the bottom is too short for 1.5 inch oars. Second, the contour of the braces that surround the oar does not follow the same cure as a 1.5 inch standard oar. This allows the clamps to dig deep into your wooden oars where only a partial amount of the clamp touches the oars when the clamps are tightened. once you get a long enough bolt from the hardware store you are still left with the problem of the clamps destroying your oars when you tighten them.

this time Amazon let me down. These oarlocks adjust to a minimum of 1.5". The shoreline 6' aluminum oars have a 1.25" shaft. Which the oar description does not tell you.Yet the oarlocks are advertised on the same page as the oars...."others bought...". When i submitted "shaft size" to the "what have we missed?" Amazon query i was thanked for my input but not redirected to the information i had missed in the description. Which says the info is not in the description. The solution: i went to my favorite DIY store Ace and bought 3" of poly tubing with an I.D. of 1.25 and an od of 1.75". Works fine.I also had to buy a longer lower bolt. The sleeve that seasense supplies is too short. The sleeve is intended to maintain some free play between the pin and the clamp....so that the oar can be lifted out of the water on the backstroke. As a result of the shortness if the lower bolt is tightened up to the sleeve there is NO free play. If you do not tighten up to the sleeve there is a chance the supplied nut could work loose.Solution: go to diy store. Buy a half inch longer lower bolt and another nut, or a locking nut. Leave some clearance between the inner nut and the sleeve.Better solution: go to walmart.com. they sell Shoreline oarlocks to match their oars. Same basic price, but only available online.I sure wish Amazon carried these.

They work great and I was able to use them to secure the oars to the out side of the boat for storage and then remount them for use.

This pair of Oar Locks is very poor in quality with no lock nuts. The sealed packaging came with one nut missing as well. I would not recommend this one to any of my friends. I'm very disappointed.
