If your thinking about this thing, don't. There are better hubs that cost less.

I assembled a computer based on the ASUS M5N78L-MUSB3 motherboard, andinstalled a front panel combination USB portCard reader but for some reasonthe computer would not recognize my external hard drives when I connected to the USB ports.Hoping to correct this problem I purchased and installed theSEDNA - Internal 4 Port USB 3.0 Hub (Floppy Bay). With it my computer now recognizes my external hard drives whether they be USB 2.0 or 3.0 compatible. This device does require to be plugged into an available USB 3.0 port, to deliver USB 3.0 speeds. Since I had two open USB 3.0 ports on the motherboard this did not create any problems. This device works great!

The item works, but is not an elegant solution to add USB 3.0 ports to the front of a computer. I did not fully read or comprehend the item description that this 4-port hub only uses a pigtail to attach to a single existing 3.0 USB external port (which are typically on the back of the computer case). Had I understood that feature I would not have purchased this device as I wanted to fully utilize the existing 20-pin connector on my motherboard. Note that the device does include an adapter for the 20-pin connector, but still only uses one of the two provided ports. And the connector is an ungainly connection that sits high off the motherboard and is appears prone to break or dislocate the 20-pin connector if it is bumped
