The See All PLX18 circular acrylic indoor convex security mirror is a circular, convex, acrylic mirror, with an 18" diameter, that reflects a wide angle image at a diminished size to extend a field of view to help a person see around obstacles for safety, or monitor a wide area for efficient surveillance. Acrylic is shatter resistant, weighs less than glass, and reflects a clear, bright image. The mirror comes with a swivel mounting bracket that makes it adjustable to a wide range of angles. The 18" diameter size is suitable for areas up to 15' away from the mirror (diameter is measured from the outside of the 3/4" rim). This mirror has a tempered hardboard backing for good strength-to-weight ratio in indoor applications. Tempered hardboard is a high-density fiberboard that has been coated with linseed oil and then baked to increase its water resistance, rigidity, and tensile strength.

Safety mirrors are used to help increase visibility in a variety of locations; for example, in hallway intersections and sharp turns, and in driveways and loading docks where drivers have to back up or enter traffic. Safety mirrors are sometimes called security mirrors, and they can be used to extend the view of security personnel, or to help monitor factory workers and automated processes to improve quality control and productivity. For convex mirrors, objects will appear to be further away than they are, and will be easier to see in a larger mirror. Depending on visibility conditions and the viewer's eyesight, objects will usually be recognizable within about 1 ft. of distance (including distance from eye to mirror, and from mirror to object) for each inch in mirror diameter.

See All Industries manufactures safety and security mirrors. The company, founded in 1958, is headquartered in Chicago, IL.

Junk . In this photo, you can see the mirror that I replaced it with that is actually outdoor suitable. The mirror this merchant is selling has a cardboard backing held together with electrician tape. Expensive and literally, the worst product I’ve ever bought on Amazon in 15 years. Can’t return because it’s just outside the return policy. Both mirrors that I purchased, failed the exact same way. Installed two outside, both are falling apart less than a month after installing. Horrible product.

I should have bought this years ago. It has made backing out of my tight carport so much easier. Good size and easy to install. Works great. Backing is cardboard so it needs to be put up somewhere with shelter.

Works perfectly, great quality reflection.Note that mounting screws are NOT included, but that's only about 15 cents worth of material. But make sure to buy some mounting screws, drywall anchors, and some washers in case the screw heads aren't large enough.I used two drywall anchors in drywall, and then screwed some really long screws into those. Seems extremely solid.

Great little mirror. Well packaged so it didn't come in a thousand pieces like the first mirror I ordered. We use it in the Condo exercise room. The entrance door is 10-15 feet behind the workout equipment, so people on the machines would have to turn around to see who is coming in and not a good idea because you can fall if distracted while on the threadmills. The mirror allows all five users of equipment to see the door without turning around. We tried regular flat mirror but it would allow only one piece to see the back door. Seems pretty sturdy and the back is on a ball socket so you can adjust if need to but for us it covers the whole area and provides a clear view. Was worried about if 18 inches would be enough and be able to see the back, but it works out for us (pun intended).

Good for indoor use, but useless for outdoor use with a cardboard backing. Tired of guessing which mirror to order from Amazon due to inadequate product descriptions, so I bit the bullet and ordered a REAL industrial mirror from McMaster-Carr which has a stainless steel backing and $136 price tag. You get what you pay for after all.

I have a car with a long front end and I cannot see the bumper when I park. I needed a mirror to mount in my garage so that I wouldn't hit the wall as I parked. I looked for mirrors online and, based upon the reviews for this one, placed my order. I knew that the mirror was 18" across, but I didn't really understand exactly how big that was until the mirror arrived. It's huge! The mirror arrived very well packed in a massive box. (It had to cost Amazon a fortune to ship. Thank goodness for Prime.) The mirror has a small mounting arm that worked perfectly for me, but I can see how others may have to fabricate something larger or custom for their installations. The mirror has a ball/socket adjustment system, so it can be easily angled after mounting. One note... Due to the nature of the convex mirrors, objects get small very quickly the further they are from the mirror. That's not a knock against this mirror, just the way it is with convex mirrors. For my application, it means that I can see the garage wall very well (which is why I wanted the mirror), but not the garage opening. The garage wall is about 8 feet away from the mirror. The garage opening is about 15 feet away. I don't think this mirror could be used in a convenience store to monitor aisles, for example. Objects and people close to the mirror could be seen clearly, but not objects and people at the end of the aisle.

perfect for my needs: to clearly see the sides of the car as it enters the garage indoors. my car has a very long nose and it was hard to see the front bumper clearance against the garage entrance. I mounted this next to the garage door opener motor. As others noted, since is a convex mirror, things get small at a relative short distance. in my case the mirror is about 12 ft from garage entrance and it works well. I can see how 2-3 ft farther away would make this not useful. Not a problem of the mirror just the way convex mirrors work

We have a blind driveway and are using the mirror to spot traffic. The Mirror is mounted above our mailbox and pointed down the roadway about 10 to 15 feet from end of our driveway allowing a clear view of oncoming traffic. Although the image is very clear, due to the convex nature of the mirror the actual roadway are you can see is a very small area in the center of the mirror, perhaps 4 or 5 inches in diameter. While this works just fine to show cars that are coming with their headlights on, it can be rather difficult to see a car that is more than 100 feet or more down the road that does not have its' headlights on. A full size car 100 feet away would be appear 1 inch or less in size, 200 feet 1/2 inch or less, 300 feet 1/4 inch. Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase and it is performing its required function. The mirror is well built and easy to mount.

I attached to the side of a mailbox so we can see around the corner before we pull out of the driveway. I'm amazed at what a difference a mirror can make! This one is a very good size, we can view very easily. The build is very good quality, the hardware was fine; after setting up about 9 months ago, I haven't touched or cleaned, and still works great. A great $60 investment to protect my family. Highly recommend.
