The clock has no constant backlight, making it basically impossible to read unless you tap the backlight button, which turns off fairly quickly. The construction is fairly cheap plastic.

I bought this because of its style, for my son as a gift. I put the batteries it came with in and it was really dim. I put new batteries in and it was really dim. I plugged it into DC 5V and it was really dim. Then, I looked up this clock on Youtube and saw it was just a really dim clock, so it's not just my model. It's too dim in moderate to poor lighting to read, and it's has too much glare to read in bright lit rooms..It is so disappointing. Skip this Seiko clock.

A no-fuss clock. Just hope it lasts long enough to justify the high price. The display could have been just a little brighter to view the time in daylight.

Sin duda un articulo para coleccionistas de la marca, es un reloj emblemático de las carreras de velocidad olímpicas, funciona correctamente, muy bien diseñado, mas que nada para coleccionar.

You want a desktop countdown timer? Look no further. It works great on a desk and is perfect for timing tasks, meetings with people you don't want to be meeting with, and quick breaks. Sure, you can do this on your iPhone, but that just doesn't have the same impact as seeing the seconds tick by on this clock. And the clock function, itself, works well too. (It's quartz, so you'd expect that. In the two weeks since I've had it, the clock has lost 1 second, so yes, it is accurate.)My biggest knock on the design is that the numbers are difficult to read if you are not looking at them head-on--the problem is exacerbated if the room is not well-lit. That said, the backlight is great. And I am also only using the clock on AA batteries. I intend to spend the $5.50 on a 5V adapter on Amazon to see if that helps the screen brightness as another reviewer has suggested--I do like the clock enough to spend the extra money on that.Do pay attention to the dimensions of the clock. It's meant as a desk-top decoration and is only about 4" across and 1.75" high. It's big enough for you to notice it, but not something you'd put on a mantle.

This is very cool looking and original. If you use the 2 AA batteries it won't be that bright unless you hit the snooze button. When you use a DC adapter the numbers are very bright. The clock is rated for a 5v DC adapter but I am using a 4.5v from a battery charger and it works fine. I love it.

This is a small desktop replica of the Seiko timers used to time marathon runners. It has a very cool reverse/negative LCD display with clear and easily viewable gold digits on a black background. It reminds me of the countdown timer display from the show 24. Under good lighting, it can even appear to resemble an old school LED display. It also has an excellent backlight which only illuminates the digits, and it is easily turned on via the snooze bar on the top. Feature wise, it has a full calendar, alarm (very audible and sounds for up to 5 min) with snooze option, chronograph, and count-down timer (up to 99 hours). The yellow plastic case is made of high quality plastic, and the metal stand is very sturdy. The clock runs on two AA batteries and also has a 5V power jack (adapter not included). Overall, it is a very cool and unique looking desktop clock with great functions.
