Specification:
Look in the throttle body at the air inlet where the air control is attached. Start the engine and you will see it moving in and out to control the air in idle mode. If the valve is not moving then replace it. It should be moving in and out during idle.

Replaced factory IAC with this item on a VP 5.0 gxi-e after having typical problem of starting after engine has been run for a while. Part looked good and engine fired right up. However, after just a few minutes the idle jumped to 1500 rpm and the a minute or two later kept climbing over 2000 rpm before I shut it down. Throttle lever at neutral. Linkage set properly. I checked wiring the tried again. Same thing. Tried three more times… same thing. Replaced with original IAC and engine idled perfect at 700 rpm. Go with a different brand!

I bought this for a Volvo Penta 5.7 OSXI-G marine engine that was hard to start. I was having to advance the throttle all the way to get the engine to start. I changed the OEM part for this replacement and not only did it not help with the starting issue but it started causing my idle RPM to creep up to over 1500 RPM and get stuck. This is way too high and makes shifting into gear very clunky and potentially damaging. I have to turn off the engine to get the sensor to reset and adjust back to proper idle. Unfortunately I bought this at the end of last season and didn't get around to installing it until this season so I can't return. You get what you pay for I guess.

This part was offered by a number of sellers at varying price. I chose this seller because the pictured product appeared to be of better quality than that of other sellers, specifically the top of the product (as the product is oriented in most of the pictures) appeared to be metal. This portion on what I received was black AND, from what I can tell without damaging the part, appears to be plastic. Never before have I thought to question whether the photographs on Amazon will match the item I receive. I guess I will have to question that now.
