The Alnico II Pro Slash was designed to give Slash's other Les Paul guitars-what he calls his "live guitars"-the exact tone of this legendary instrument. Application Warm, moderate output humbucker. Recommended for jazz, blues, and classic rock. Description Like the standard APH-1 Alnico II Pro, this pickup uses an Alnico 2 magnet. However, the Slash model is wound with just enough boosted output to push a stock Les Paul toward the sweet sustain and rude crunch that characterizes Slash's sound as heard on hundreds of tracks. In addition, it comes with some of the same appointments found on the Seymour Duncan pickups in Slash's '86 recording axe, including single-conductor cable, long-legged bottom plate, and wooden spacer. For the true fan, or the player who wants to capture Slash's recorded tone, this pickup is a critical part of the tone chain. This is same pickup found in the newest Gibson Slash model Les Paul. I put a set of Slash APH-2 Humbuckers into a 1992 Les Paul as replacements for the original pickups, and it's like I have a brand new guitar. They have a great classic rock tone and lots of sustain!

You want thick, chewy tone? Do you enjoy the characteristics of Slash's tone? These pickups are all about that. Springy, bouncy, sloppy, with raw attitude that's not biting.Everybody knows tone is in the fingers, and claims of "buy X product and you'll get artist Y's tone" are absolute B.S.... except this pickup, in a Les Paul, into a Marshall - and it's all up to your technique. It's the tone you have in your head, if your fingers can play with the right "drunken articulation."Highly recommended.

I honestly feel something must be wrong with the set I received, the tone reminds me of when my active pickups have a near dead 9v! I keep checking my wiring thinking I have done something wrong and even tried bypassing my tone & volume control straight to the output jack and I'm still very disappointed. I can't really explain it other than what I said, although I have the JB Jazz set and love them maybe I 've just become to use to my active JH HET set and my Mustaine Live wires! The pick covers are slightly warped up on the edges and the black tape around the sides was partially off and stuck to the bottom when I got them, maybe they were just stored in some hot warehouse. I'm returning mine and gonna try either the Dimebag set or the Kurt Hammet Bone Crushers!
