I bought this specifically for bluesy leads and riffs. I have the SD Cool Rails in the Neck position on my strat. It sounds great for leads, loads of fun to Jam out some blues for hours, but it sucks for chords. When ever I try and play chords with gain, it's just so Fat, Warm and Fuzzy that it sounds like a mess and just sucks. But the leads sound sweet. Also It was easy to install.

I have 1994 Amercian Standard Strat and have been playing with the pickups for some time. I had a Lace Sensor Red in the bridge position for many years which created a not-quite Humbucker tone with low noise but was VERY hot. I still have the stock middle pickup for the quack and and Lace Light Blue in the Neck for blues / jazz / mellow which I really like. The Lace Red just overpowered the set and I was looking for something to give me versatility (ability to do rock without being to hot).I went to the local tech who suggested this pickup. I was skeptical that it would be too weak but trusted him and I now have a very balanced and versatile guitar. The Cool Rail still retains just a little bit of Strat Character but will get dirty if needed (not metal, but Rock). It doesn't have a distinctive character but simply does what I ask of it.I incidentally have another guitar that came with Cool Rails in the neck and middle positions and I wasn't as happy. I really like a neck pickup with character and the cool rails don't have that. They're okay but not what I like. However, in the bridge of a single coil guitar, it does a very nice job.

A very powerful pickup. Can handle anything from overdrive to heavy distortion. You could split the coil too to have a real nice spanky sound.

I've been a believer in Duncan's stacks since the very first generation of stacked single coils came out in the early 1980's. I still have a set installed in my '76 strat. I paired two of these with a cool rail in the bridge. The impedance between these and the cool rails are similar, and as I expected so are the volumes. STK-S7 is 11.9K and the cool rails is 10.6K. the cool rails in the bridge is reminiscent of a pearly gates humbucker, fatter and warmer than the stacks but not fully PAF fat. The stacks are hot but maintain the crispness and clarity of a single coil without the nasty hum when your gain is high. I play blues with a rock edge and find this combination to be great for my requirements. These are much better sounding than fender's noiseless offerings with a more natural and balanced tone. They have a clearer low midrange than the area 57 or area 61 dimarzios, and better high end than the virtual vintage blues (either model)

It sort of makes a popping sound on the E string when I play hard. Might be that I need to adjust the height. Not as much gain as I expected. But very smooth tone. Overall a good pickup.

Guter klang, viel druck. Splitting macht keinen Sinn.Habe ihn am Hals auf eine Strat montiert.Der klang ist gut, nicht zu aufgemotzt wie bei den Hot Rails des gleichen Herstellers.Für das splitten ist er aber zu dünn

This pickup is awesome. I can get great classic rock and blues tones out of it. I have this paired up with a hot rails in the bridge of my Fender American made standard Stratocaster and I can get an array of wicked sounds. Distorted this pickup has a warm smooth vintage tone, when played through a clean channel this pickup sounds very articulate and clean, but not super clean. It has a pinch of dirtiness to it. When playing single notes it has a very bubbly and clear sound. This pickup is definitely not a one trick pony. You can get great sounds for many styles
