  • Single-coil Tele Bridge Pickup

A Vintage Right 54 Telecaster Lead Pickup. This is the tele lead clay, full of twang, bite and bark. For Telecaster players looking for a direct approach to the bridge tone that helped define rock, blues and country, we offer the Vintage 54 Tele head start. His hand ground Alnico 5 rod magnet with raised D and G, coupled with a lower output wind, delivers a bright, well-defined height response perfect for bold lead work and fast-moving chords from Chicago to Nashville. Combine with our Vintage Tele rhythm for a great vintage sound setup. Like all our vintage models, we remain true to the smallest details. We grind our magnets by hand, measure the coils from the traditional forbon and dip them in varnish before wrapping. The paint stabilises the Forbon for decades. After wrapping, the pickup is wrapped with black cotton yarn, and the wax fabric wire in vintage fabric is soldered on the spools. Put this in an Esquire partscaster I built with Johnny Cash wiring and it really cooks in position 3 (switch all the way down, direct to pickup). Loud.

It is not visible on the picture but this pickup has a very high pole piece for the G string and an elevated pole piece but less high for the d string. That makes it hard to to get a balanced volume per string on necks with a flat radius like 12 or 14 inch. So in my view more suitable for old fashioned 7 1/4 radius necks or maybe 9.5 radius.Otherwise the pickup has an excellent vintage tele sound; defined and warmish and is recommended.

Just tried this combination with an SD STHR1-N for the neck, and it's amazing the quality and richness of tone.Wired them using the Blackguard 53 diagram. Highly recommended.

Great pick-up but heads up, it's bright. Use a 250K pot to warm up the tone. I run it with a SD Mini Humbucker in the neck position with a .047mf oil/paper cap, 250K vol/tone pots and now it's balanced and sounds fantastic.

Nice sounding pickup. Very bright vintage tone. Installed in a custom built pine body paired with the STR-1 neck pickup. Great for country, roll the tone knob and plays blues and rock almost by itself. This is not a high output pickup so it is not really obnoxious in your face tone. More smoothe and twangy.

This pickup is very bright sounding. I didn't know a pickup could be so bright. Just make sure that u want a very bright sounding guitar pickup before buying. Other than that very well made.

I put this in my MIM Esquire. Face it, the pickups that come in the MIM Fenders are pretty bad. They sound ok, but just ok. This pickup is on the other end of that spectrum. It's got a very rich tone and the raised poles on the two middle strings are a big part of that IMHO. Tone is subjective to a degree, but anyone who loves the Tele brdige setting, thus the Esquire, will love this pickup. Pop and twang are abundantly available out of this pup. I couldn't be happier with it. Duncan nailed this one.
