Seems to do exactly what it is supposed to do. It is a mono phone input and stereo output to a USB-C connector. There are no specs listed either on the Amazon listing, or that came with the unit. I must assume that the specs are not that wonderful, or it would have been advertised.Testing was performed on a Samsung Galaxy S23 phone and no appreciable noise was present on the mic input, and the stereo output was clean and no discernable distortion. No technical analysis was performed since no specs were provided, i.e. nothing to compare it against. The cable is similar in handling to an official Apple lightening adapter....so, don't abuse the cable and it should last for a while. This is the most frequent point of failure for these little critters. Both ends appear to be made from extruded aluminum and very well finished. This little adapter is great for what it is intended for, but not for any serious DAC use, as it does not cost hundreds of dollars!RECOMMENDED!

This is pretty good for what it is, maybe a little expensive though. The USB-C fits tightly in my phone, no chance of it coming out without pulling on it. The same is true to the 3.5mm ports, they are solid and whatever you plug in won't come out accidentally. One interesting thing is that there is lighting inside so you can easily see the ports in the dark, should you need to. A wood things about the light is that it stays on for a little while, flashes, and you can see it through the white plastic. I didn't notice any issue with sound when using headphones, and I haven't used it for the mic. It would be more useful generally if it has a power pass through rather than a mic input so you can charge and listen at the same time, but that's not hidden in any way so you know what your getting.

I was really looking forward to getting this SGEYR Type c Sound Card Type C External Sound Card, as I’m doing a lot more meetings and recordings for work and the wireless earbuds I’ve been using just don’t produce professional sound. I still have an old microphone setup from the ‘90s that I’d planned on testing out.The problem I had with this unit was the physical USB-C plug itself wouldn’t stay connected to my MacBook Air. Even if I held it in place, it wasn’t showing up in my operating system. Maybe I wasn’t pushing it in hard enough, but I didn’t feel comfortable using more force. I’ve definitely used USB-C enough to know this one didn’t connect the same way that every other USB-C plug I’ve used connects to my laptop.I did successfully plug this into the USB hub on my Mac Mini, and noticed that there’s a light inside when it successfully connects. I hooked up my Sony MDR-V6 headphones and had sound, so I know the unit works. It sounds okay. It’s fairly clear and definitely has better overall sound quality than my old iPod Classic. It’s not as good as my favorite USB-C DAC, though—and that DAC is very low end, costing less than a decent cocktail. What I noticed with this unit is the sound was flat and a little muddy. Lots of bass. When I swapped out to my USB-C headphone DAC, with the same music and the same EQ and volume settings, using the same headphones, I get a much brighter sound with the highs pushed front and center and a more balanced low-end. This is something I’m sure I could improve with some EQ tweaks, and maybe it has to do with the impedance on the headphones themselves, but it does go to show that different DACs have different balance.Overall, I wanted this to be a better experience. The physical build quality is fantastic. The black parts of the adapater are metal, it feels solid, and unlike a lot of cheap plastic adapter I have, I wouldn’t hesitate to throw this in my laptop bag—if it actually worked with my laptop.
