When deciding which size to buy, keep in mind that this particular chain is measured as a complete product/assembly, not just chain. I bought 18 inch, and it measures not a hair longer from the farthest points from the swivel ring to the starting ring, see pics.

This chain has the regular large ring on one end and a swivel attaching the ring on the other end. The ring on the other end opposite the swivel catches on the swivel preventing the slide and choke effect. Not good for training. This also could allow the dog to slip out of the collar and run. Don’t waist your money..

I purchased this chain because the price was reasonable and the size was perfect for my dog. I did not notice that the top of the chain features an extended loop that detracts from it's fit and smooth operation in my opinion. I would have preferred the traditional chain without the extended fitting at the top.

The swivel piece makes it nearly impossible to use. Every time you pull for a correction it catches on the swivel piece.
