A good solid micrometer. When you initially pick this up you can feel the weight of the steel frame. The vernier is tight with little to no backlash. I also like the size of the vernier numbers, you may not need reading glasses.

At 58 I’m no longer able to work on anything without reading glasses. I don’t use a micrometer all the time so I’ve stuck with a simple, old school set that I’ve had a long time. But I saw this one with the digital display and thought how much easier this would be to use. I have had this for now for several weeks but just got the chance to use it today. The kit was supposed to come with a battery in it but mine did not. I ordered batteries for it and today I got to use it in the shop. Since I was new to the tool, I started out with a 1 inch standard from my other set. I zeroed the micrometer and gave it a few tries to see how accurately I could return to zero. On the end of the thimble, it has a ratcheting knob to help produce consistent results. Then I tried it several times on my 1 inch standard. I was consistently producing 1.0004 or 1.0005” on the standard. I was pretty happy with that result. Then I screwed it all the way back to zero and it returned back to 0.0000” exactly. I was honestly very happy both with the performance of the micrometer and my own performance. The display is easy to read. The controls work as you would expect and I didn’t need to read the instructions to be able to use it. It’s a great micrometer.
