There’s not a lot to say about muzzle device shims. You stack as necessary to get the proper timing, and this kit gives you plenty of options to get the exact fit you’re looking for. I would have preferred if they were black (like 90% of the guns they would go on), and the weird little treasure chest is just in the way.

The shims work as advertised but unfortunately the outer diameter is a bit to big for my Ruger American 5.56 rifle and stands a bit proud.

If you need to time time out a muzzle break, compensator or any other muzzle device this is a great set of shims to do that with. There are eight thicknesses with four of each, so plenty of shims for more than a few guns. They are silver so if you're doing this on a black rifle just know they will stand out, but work just as well silver or black. If I have any complaint about the set it's lack of marking on the shims. Whether it be simple notches or printed size, there is no way other that grabbing your micrometer to figure out what size is what once you've removed them from the package. Thus, if you're trying to time a break and need to try different combos just make sure to note what shim went on in what order so if you need to swap a different one it, you know what you're taking out.Lastly they come in this weird little treasure chest that seems very much like an afterthought. The little bags don't really fit in the chest and since they are not marked in any way on the shims you can't just dumb the bags into the chest for storage. It's a neat little cheaply made box but like I said very much an afterthought and out of place for this product.

I received this DVEFSL shim kit, and the packaging is slightly different than what is pictured, but the shims are still labeled and marked with the correct sizes. Internally, they are exactly 1/2", but externally, they are just slightly smaller than 0.75". There are 8 different thickness shims, and you get 4 of each size, so this should time several muzzle devices with one kit. I measured the 0.008” shims for reference in the pics.

Good set, lots of shims provided at varying thickness for proper timing. They are individually packaged by thickness which is nice, so you aren't hunting in a bag for the right size. They come in this weird mini chest that makes no sense. Would be better if they just came in a bag and were a cheaper for that as the chest is going to send up in the trash.

It's nice to have these, they're just thin steel "washers", i.e. "shims", they provide thickness. The little "treasure chest" case is nifty... but is it necessary? :)

This review is for the DVEFSL Shim Kit for 1/2" x28 Thread Barrel Muzzle Devices.As stated in the Amazon listing, this has 8 different shim thicknesses, four of each size.Since I do not have all the parts for my build yet, I pulled out my Starrett Micrometer and checked the thickness of several shims. The 0.003 was dead on. The 0.02 actually measured 0.0185. All four miked the exact same, so there is consistency. For the 0.01 shim, one miked at 0.01 and the rest were at 0.095. For the 0.08 shim, they all miked at 0.075. I did not mike the rest.Does such a slight discrepancy matter on a muzzle shim? Probably not. As long as you are aware of the difference. However, for the price, I’d expect a better finished product.One thing I did not like was the container they shipped in. WHY? Why construct an ornate wooden box with a useless latch to ship this product? Useless, and suspect. Any cheap wood product is immediately suspect for invasive critters. I immediately threw it in the burn pile and burned it.Overall, a decent product that is, I believe, slightly overpriced for what you get.
