Shimano makes fine stuff. And I'm not sure if I'm reviewing the product or how it was added to Amazon, or how search results suggested this is what I needed, but this didn't fit based on a parts lookup, so either Shimano makes confusing and contradictory part numbers, it wasn't added by the vendor accurately, and it just wasn't worth returning so I have a plastic disk and a few screws just laying on my bench, useless for the task I bought it for.

The piece worked well for my application, which was as an add-on to a older Shimano DX crank. I used an adapter disc made of Lexan to screw it to the crank. Worked perfectly. I assume it will be even better for the Sora crank since it's just a hard-to-mess-up plastic casting.
