Outfit your all-road or CX bike with Shimano's Ultegra RD-RX800 Rear Derailleur and enjoy increased chain tension thanks to its mountain bike technology offering better chain management and less noise over rougher roads and gravel. Just like we're accustomed to on its mountain rear derailleurs, a flip of the lever engages and disengages the clutch. When in the on position, the clutch increases the spring force to provide crisp shifting and zero chain slap and is easily flipped off for wheel changes. This is Shimano's first rear derailleur featuring a clutch for drop bar bikes and since it works with both 1x and 2x setups, we feel it's a must-have for gravel and 'cross bikes. Following in the footsteps of the revamped Dura-Ace and Ultegra groups, this RX derailleur gets its Shadow cage treatment placing it closer to the frame and under the cassette keeping it out of harm's way and less likely to take the brunt of a driveside crash. This also allows the derailleur to move in a much more linear path allowing for shorter throws with less effort. It comes in one cage length, long, which accommodates an 11-34t cassette allowing for a wide range gear ratio when paired with a double without the usual huge jumps between the cogs like on a 1x setup. Sitting under the Ultegra umbrella means it gets the usual materials and finishes that we expect from a groupset that's just one step from the top. Its weight, smoothness, and durability make it more than capable of racing against the competition on course, or the sun to your campsite for the night on a bikepacking trip.

Nice derailleur and swapped out easily with the non-clutch 8000 that I had. Great value.

Derailleur works exactly as designed. No more chain drops like I was having with my 105 rd. Using it with a 11-36 cassette.

Spot on - smoother - quieter - and the clutch of clutch derailers. All bikes should have a clutch to reduce chain slap. Ride changing. Highly recommend for going up 30+ teeth.

I got this new with a new bike and in the first 500 miles the derailleur broke in half. Fortunately it was under warranty and I received a new one.My other bike also had an R8000 RD (short cage) and the inner part, that houses the spring, broke. This one wasn’t under warranty but was hardly used.I know nothing lasts forever but my older Ultegra 6800 RD has about 15,000 miles and with several crashes still works. My 2 new Ultegra rear derailleurs never crashed and with much less mileage didn’t last.

Effectively eliminates chain slap. Helped solve my problems with dropping chains off the chain ring. Also of note, it works with 10 speed Tiagra 4700. It will not work with other 10 speed Shimano group sets though. Tiagra 4700 has same pull ratio as Shimano 11 speed group sets.

It’s Shimano, what’s not to like. It has a long cage and a link to work with a wide range of gears. It has a clutch to eliminate chain slap on a rough road.

Works great. The clutch effectively prevents chainslap. Also on a Kona Rove with the b screw almost all the way this derailleur can shift through the full range of an 11-42t SLX MTB cassette and it doesn't skip gears or miss shifts. I'm sure it would be smoother and faster shift with the recommended max range. But it does work.11-46 would likely crash into the pulley.
