If you want to file material away quickly, this is your friend. It has two sides, a fine and a coarse and works a lot faster than a file or rasp. It's not a finishing tool though. You'll need to do some smoothing after you get the shape you want.

This rasp works well for my uses . As a hobby I build custom guitars and furniture. The coarse side will remove a lot of material quickly so if it's a tedious task with tight tolerances use the fine side . Both sides work well with hardwoods such as Paduk and Wenge but in my opinion this might be a little too aggressive for softer woods like pine, cedar or poplar . Always try a test piece before using on your work piece. As far as the handle goes it is completely stable and functions as it should. Do I prefer a wood handle? Yes, but I won't scoff at a molded one if it is comfortable / stable. Is it the same quality as my other rasps? Yes and no. I will probably have to replace it sooner than my others but I use these a lot in my builds so it's debatable. I would order this again if I wear it out simply because it comes to my door the very next day from ordering date. I hope you find this review helpful and happy rasping!

This is so easy to use. It also removes a ton of material very quickly and easily. Wish I'd bought it years ago.

This rasp works great. It provides quick results with minimal effort on the rougher side. The fine side provides near sandpaper smoothness.Easy to use. My grandchildren have enjoyed this tool.

Just purchased this rasp to supplement other wood rasps I use. Solidly built and appears to be a good addition. Specifically to reviewer comment re wanting a wooden handle, the one I received has a molded, flexible handle instead of wood as indicated. However, I use lots of woodworking hand tools and newer versions of older tools that now have molded handles are more comfortable to use and easier to grip.

As many others I have used this tool to shape the neck of an electric guitar. I was reluctant to use a rasp and go old school but this thing is really fast and much easier to control than a router with huge helicopter blades. After doing one neck it looks new. I do like the less coarse side too, there is a big difference between the 2 that are in the blade but it is useful too.
