Shinwa quality in a small square. I use this small square for models and crafts where it's the right size. It's accurate and works for any application where you need a small right-angle measurement or alignment. It has a brushed satin finish with etched divisions and numbers in black that is easy to read. Every Shinwa square and rule looks and feels like a quality tool and is accurate out of the package.

Works great for checking or marking small inside corners. Scale is readable at a distance even with my rubbish eyes.

Note there are four different models of this, I use the metric ones in particular the 10 x 5 cm version. They also come with Japanese Shaku/Sun/Bu markings (Sun is 1.193 inches, Bu is 1/10th of that) which might not be what you want.Really useful for joinery purposes, especially in conjunction with the Shinwa 62081 https://www.amazon.com/Shinwa-Sokutei-SCRIBING-SQUARE-62081/dp/B000W9IMQS and using it like one does a drafting triangle against a T-square.j By placing this along the edge of another square you can scribe a line perpendicular to the square blade, that is parallel to the board edge anywhere on the board. This makes for quick layout of mortises and other joinery features. The 62081 has ruler markings on its square edge which allows you to easily place lines at a certain distance from the edge without need for more fiddly setups like setting a marking guage. This square is small, thin, and rigid, so not the best tool for trying square edges or by itself scribing lines perpendicular to a board edge. It is however terrific for judging whether the walls of a mortise are square or finding a high-spot on a tenon, along with its layout uses. Joinery, even on long boards, is usually of modest length so this small size is the appropriate scale and less cumbersome than other squares for those purposes. It's a must-have for me during joinery layout and final fitting. At a few bucks I keep one on both my benches so it's always handy. Would definitely do it again and recommend.I saw someone complained about the accuracy in one of the reviews. Mine is spot on and is not what I would choose for metalwork where microns once in a while matter. This is well more accurate than one needs for its purposes (mine is square within .001" over its length) and is easily trued up if for some reason it ends up needing it.

Handy for small boxes and checking square in plane irons and chisels when setting up sharpening jigs and other tools. I wish I had this 30 yrs ago. I bought 2 because we all know what can happen to small flat things that get covered with shavings or swarf. Its not true Stainless so you can find it with a small telescoping magnet. I just checked it. Ive checked it with a 200$ hardened steel Mitutoyo engineers square and its dead square

This is just right for my needs. I use this for easily making clean corners when cutting paper or card stock with a craft knife. It's got straight edges, accurate markings (in cm and mm only), a 90 degree angle with sharp inner and outer corners, and is heavy and sturdy. It doesn't have a true satin finish but it's not super glossy either. It is made in China, as others have noted.
