Product Description

This incredibly comfortable rain jacket was designed for mountain biking, but it’s such an essential wardrobe element that it never makes it back into the closet.

This lightweight, do-everything jacket protects from the elements with fully seam-taped 2.5-layer waterproof-breathable performance fabric, which features a bit of stretch for greater freedom of movement, as well as a carbon-print lining that provides natural odor-resistance and a far drier next-to-skin feel than other 2.5-layer counterparts. With a removable hood, front pockets, core vents, and reinforced shoulders, this packable jacket seamlessly transitions from mountain biking to hiking to road tripping. Now with clean color dyes. As part of our Clean Color collection, the fabric of the Elements jacket is colored using non-toxic dyes and processes that helps protect people and the environment from bad chemistry.

2.5 Layer Construction

2.5-layer construction features the laminate or membrane applied to the face fabric, just like the 2-layer. However, on the inside of the jacket we use a raised charcoal print to add surface area. This decreases the clammy or sticky feeling other 2.5 layer jackets often have.

This construction is done to get a more comfortable experience without compromising packability.

True Versatility

The Elements Jacket is one of the most versatile jackets offered in the outdoor industry. With its core vents and hood you can go from the streets, to the woods, or the mountain with out having to buy a jacket for each environment.

This is truly a do it all jacket that won't break the bank and will pack down when needed.

waterproof

Plenty Of Room To Layer

What makes the ELements Jacket so versatile is that it is a waterproof breathable hard shell which will keep the elements at bay, however it also offers enough room to wear your favorite base layers when the temperatures demand it.

This allows you to manage body heat and warmth depending on the days activities or weather.

What the Pros Think

From bikepacking.com

For once I was excited for an extremely wet fall on Vancouver Island, but as luck would have its actually been quite wonderful weather for the last week or so. Because of this, I’ve only had the Showers Pass Elements Jacket out.

I think Showers Pass did a great job at injecting the Elements Jacket with thoughtful features where they count, while still keeping the overall weight and pack size manageable. Though it does seem to exist in a league of its own as it isn’t a fully featured 3-layer hardshell or an ultralight emergency rain shell, the latter being my usual go-to for my average bikepacking trip.

2.5 layer

2.5-LAYER FABRIC

2.5-layer shells are made of a face fabric bonded to a waterproof membrane, with a raised printed pattern on the inside (the “half layer”) that helps protect the membrane from abrasion, body oils, and other damage. 2.5-Layer waterproof fabrics offer the benefits of being lighter weight and more packable, but they are typically not as durable or breathable as their 3-layer counterparts. 2.5-layer shells are a good option for people looking for a lightweight packable jacket – a good choice for long distance riding in the "best" category, or shorter commutes under about 7 miles in the "better" category.

This rain coat does not breathe at all…. It is very expensive but is basically just a rubber jacket. It looks nice but is useless as a rain shell.

Purchased at last minute for a weeklong bike trip. One day of mid to heavy rain and this shell performed flawlessly. Can't comment yet on how it holds up over time. Love the removable hood which also fits easily over a bike belt and can be adjusted to fit snugly.

Wore for a cool, rainy charity ride, thought it was a rain jacket and not just a hard shell, double checked that it is, in fact, sold as rainproof. Was soaked to the skin from the first mile
