Product Description

Application

GFCIs protect against electrical shock that result from ground faults. Ground faults occur when electrical current in devices stray outside of its normal path. A human body can become part of this circuit, which results in an electrical shock. GFCIs analyze the amount of current entering and existing from the circuit and will trip when the difference is greater than a certain value.

Siemens GFCI circuit breakers are UL Listed and CSA Certified as Class A devices. Current imbalances of 4-6 milliamps or more between load conductors will cause the ground fault sensor to trip the circuit Breaker. Note: A load neutral is not required on the circuit. However, the white line neutral (pigtail) must be connected to the panel neutral for the device to function. The Siemens 2-pole GFCI circuit breaker can be installed on a 120/240-volt AC single phase, 3-wire system, the 120/240-volt AC portion of a 240/120-volt, 3-phase, 4-wire system, or on a 208Y/120-volt, 3-phase, 4-wire system. When installed on these systems, protection is provided for 2-wire, 240V AC or 208V AC circuits; 3-wire, 120/240-volt AC circuits. The Siemens 1-pole GFCI circuit breaker is to be installed only on a single phase 120/240-volt AC system.

From the Manufacturer

Siemens GFCI plug in circuit breakers are intended for use in Siemens EQ, Siemens Ultimate, ITE, and Gould load centers or meter combinations. The single pole Siemens breakers may be used in 1 or 3-phase load centers and are 120V rated. To ensure the warranty on a Siemens panel is not voided, the use of Siemens breakers is required. The GFCI is intended for areas required by code to have ground fault protection, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and outdoor circuits. Check with your local electrical inspector to confirm. The use of a double pole AFCI allows for shared neutral applications in which two circuits will share a common neutral.

bought this to replace similar unit in main panel for basement outlets (old unit would not trip when tested).install went fine.unit operated for 1 year and 2 months then started randomly tripping.i removed all load from circuit - still randomly tripped.checked all outlet boxes for moisture or critters - nothing.isolated wires and ran megger test - wiring was fine.replaced this breaker with a new one and it has been fine.called siemens only to find out they only warrantee their breakers for 1 year.tough luck.there was no choice on using this brand as the power panel is all siemens, so i'm going to have to eat this fault breaker.maybe some mustard will make it taste better.

This standard GFCI breaker is just that - does the job as it should and Amazon has probably the best price around for these. Siemens makes a quality product, and this installed easily into my Murray branded load center. Takes up a single breaker position which is better than some other brands that occupy two spaces even though only handling a 120V branch circuit.I find it easier to put a GFCI breaker in the main panel than install a GFCI receptacle and then have to wire all the other receptacles to the load terminals of this (master) one. A single GFCI breaker can service all the plugs in a basement or crawl space and makes resetting after a fault easier than having to find the master GFCI. For kitchens its still better to use a GFCI receptacle since you can reset a fault right at the wall.

Wanted GFCI breaker only. Local home centers only stocked combination arc fault/ground fault breakers. This fit the bill. Worked great.

Its a breaker and it works!?!? What more can I say, I do know to keep an eye on the price. Amazon has some very good prices on AFCI and GFCI breakers for the Siemens panels you just have to keep an eye on them you can usually beat the price and any local store by a mile!

I put in a Siemens sub-panel and am using this for the kitchen plug circuit--went in easily and seems to work as desired what else can you say.

High quality GFCI circuit breaker used to add two new outlets in our garage for use with garage, garden and yard tools. I wanted the GFCI at the breaker in the panel and NOT at the outlet wall plate.

This has worked fine and is the exact same item I would have paid nearly 2x as much for at Lowes or HD. I tested it after installation and it is working as expected. Although a more expensive option than daisy chaining a bunch of outlets off one GFCI outlet, this makes the installation so much easier the time you save is well worth the added $10 or so in comparative costs.
