We have an older Caravel ('78) with a sterndrive mercruiser 165. everythign is a direct replacement with the exception of the O ring for the water jacket. it was a mm too large and thankfully easily sourced from the big box stores.

Excellent kit- I have a 1985 Larson DC175 with a 3.0 Merc engine and a Alpha 1 Gen 1 outdrive. Cable length was exact as the OE one I removed, everything else was and exact fit. One draw back the water inlet o-ring was slightly bigger than the OE one. I had a set of o-rings laying around and used a better fitting one. Nice to have both gaskets as my outdrive is an Alpha 1 Gen 1 it uses the “six hole” gasket. I believe the other gasket in the kit fits an Alpha 1 Gen 2 design, but I believe it can work on the Gen 1. Quality is very good gasket material is nice, not cheap. Comes with everything you need to replace that worn out shift cable. Also the cable bellows is a nice quality, it’s not that cheap shiney rubber you see on other kits.

I thought I would save a couple bucks and got an old quicksilver version of the kit and my god it was a nightmare. Cable bound hard in the jacket and I would up throwing it in the garbage. This took less than 10 minutes to get into the bell housing and the ends on. Always go OEM or SEI.

Awesome kit. Everything you need to install the new shift cable is included, except for the tools you will need to modify the bell housing to accept the new style of cable. The new cable threads in from the front. If you have the old style, you will need to tap the threads all the way through from the back with a 1/4 18 tap. Then turn around and clean up the threads from the front. Stop 4 threads from the end. Amazon is the best.
