This USB expansion card was exactly what I needed for my media pc! It was super easy to install and worked out of the box without having to install drivers. I did think it was broken when it wouldn't show up in windows but once I connected a power cable to it, it showed up and it worked just fine. I have couple of external drives with games and movies and they work perfectly with no buffering or lag. If you're limited on usb 3.1 ports like I was this is a good value card to fix that!

With a USB NVMe drive connected, the transfers were reaching 1000MBps read speed. Had to work a bit to get it working. The leaflet says it doesn't need the SATA power, but it wouldn't detect at all in the UEFI BIOS without having the power cable connected. Then, the first few times the drive was plugged in to the USB port farther from the motherboard edge connector, it would only reach 750MBps. Put it in the other port and it was fine, then moved it back to the first one and it was now working. It ran at full speed after that without any other intervention. That was all using what ever driver was already installed on that system.

I use a ton of USB ports, and when they all share the same host you get weird issues. SO. I wanted to fix that issue. The price is GREAT, was easy to set up, and does the job. My USB isn't fighting over the hundred others I have, and it's a bit faster. Would recommend.

I ordered this USB host to upgrade my PC which only has USB 3.0 ports. Setting up was a breeze, it was a simple plug-and-play process. The data transfer rate was enhanced, with no errors encountered during the transfer of over 2TB of data. It was a great upgrade, and I am very satisfied with the product.

I took over ownership of a PC Repair shop about 3 years ago. The previous owner liked to build the cheapest of cheap. Actually, he skimped on the CPUs.The MOBOs are modern and can take modern CPUs, which is great. The only issue; the cases do not have USB 3.0 support.A lot of my users would rather spend a few hundred bucks on a new CPU and labor rather than a new PC, which I understand.Seeing this guy, I knew I had to test it. Installation is typical.Ease of use is a matter of plugging it in. I have tested on 2 AMD4 boards and no issues recognizing it.

This is a nice speed upgrade for older PCs, for copying things to/from external SSD drives. It worked fine in my Optiplex 3020 SFF with a recent Linux and Windows 10, both at full USB 3.1 speeds and without needing any extra drivers (test machine wasn't even connected to the Internet). An external SSD ran at over 800 MB/s reading on Windows. I didn't connect SATA power and it ran some small external SSD drives fine. Card is short so fit easily in my compact PC. I checked and no firmware updates needed.

I love that this is not just a splitter, but has actual controller on board. My Wife's motherboard does not have a lot of USB and even then, there are some issues with power. This fits perfectly in her case and since there is SATA power plugged in, you know you have enough not to overburden the PCIe connector. Comes with a half-height IO plate for really SFF builds as well, or server racks cases.

I ordered this for a new computer that I wanted to add USB ports to and so far, it's working just fine. I had no issues getting it set up, but you do need to have a powered SATA connector for this to work. I point this out because in the instructions it says that it will work either way but for mine, that isn't the case. Speeds seem to be quick, but I have no way to measure data transfer rates. All I can say is that I do a lot of photography, and the USB ports seem to allow for very quick transfer of my photos. If something comes up or if the card fails, I will be sure to come back and update this review.
