I use this to trim trees in my yard and in volunteer trail maintenance projects. I’m always amazed at how fast and effortless the saw cuts. I use it on branches or small trees up to about 6 inches diameter. Anything less than three inches normally takes only two or three strokes. It’s a great tool.

My boyfriend bought the whole saw for trimming branches. He loves it. It works great. He eventually broke off the tip and damaged some teeth. He is a bit hard on things so it wasn't a surprise. The replacement blade was exactly what he needed. It fit just like the original and works great. I highly recommend to anyone else who is a beast with saws. I'm sure we will need another one in the future

This blade is not equal to an original Silky 2000 Bigboy blade. I am a USFS certified sawyer. I have been using a Silky Bigboy for 7 years and make 100's of cuts each season. In the past I would get 2-3 years of sharp fast cutting from a blade. Also, I never had a blade break or bend. I recently replaced a blade with one of these and was seriously disappointed. At first it seemed fine....sharp and quick cutting. I quickly noticed that the blade was so flexible that it bowed and bent very easily under normal use. I also noticed there was a slot shaped hole in the center of the blade length near the back edge of the blade. The slot was approximately 3/8 inch long and 1/8" wide. The bending and bowing seemed to be propagating at one end of the slot shapped hole. While using the blade the second day during normal use it bowed and snapped in half. The snap point was at one end of the slot shaped hole. It is obvious that the slot shaped hole causes a stress-riser and was the source of the weakness that caused the blade to snap. I will not buy another of these inferior blades. BEWARE!!! I have attached pictures of the snapped blade.

Update to note that, though I received an obsolete version of the item and was not happy about that, the actual product as described in the listing with "Professional" embossed on the blade is a fantastic product. Just beware sellers who send the obsolete, thinner version that is prone to snapping in half!Original review: Was hoping to receive the described item. Did not. Silky has upgraded the blade thickness for the Bigboy 2000 saw. The upgraded version has "Professional" embossed on the blade and is 1.8 mm thick. The old version which is 1.1mm is thin enough to snap in normal use. I am careful, but have snapped several of these 1.1mm versions. The newer 1.8mm version is substantially stronger and is far less likely to snap in normal use. I love my "Professional" version that I got by the luck of the draw, I guess. The image and description in the current Amazon listing for this item depicts the newer and better "Professional" version. Hoping to get one of these, I ordered this recently on Prime Day as a back-up and had my fingers crossed only to receive the obsolete version that does not have "Professional" on the blade and is only 1.1mm thick. Ordered mine from Amazon vendor EBIS Mart. Beware and do not accept the thinner version.

Bought this saw last year. Its always in my offroad truck. Cut's like a hot knife through butter. The blade is a little soft/wobble's and it broke because of a little abuses lol. But I Recommended it all the way.

Contemplated rating as less than five stars due to being a bit pricey, but you have to pay a premium to get the best.Carful with these blades. It only cuts on the pull. If you use it as a regular blade and use force on the push stroke, you can cause binding and snap the blade.Which is why I bought this replacement!Once you get the technique down, nothing cuts faster.

Might be more expensive than some other saws, but if you use Silky products, specifically the Bigboy 2000, you'll know you want it back in action ASAP. Best saw of this type, wouldn't hesitate for a moment if it needed replacement or repair, as indicated by this order. I've recommended this specific product whenever asked (any chance for a name change btw? haha "Got your Silky BigBoy 2000 right here!"), and tend to recommend Silky products for any pull saw for outdoors, camp craft, bush craft, firewood collection, etc. I've used this model for many years and it never lets me down. Professional arborists also use this type and brand, and I'll tell you right now they aren't trying to waste any time up in a tree on a windy day.Buy the saw, if something happens buy a new blade, either way you'll be a happy camper, and should look forward to many years of service!

This is a great blade, but be advised, when you mount it on the BIGBOY handle many of the teeth do not go all the way in the handle while folded. I cannot carry my BIGBOY in my pack with this blade mouted, it would rip everything up. This blade is curved, other BIGBOY blades are almost straight. As far as cutting perormance goes, it is only exceeded by a lightsaber.

I love my Silky Big Boy 2000, but one day, I broke the blade trying to cut through really difficult tree.I was quite bummed and went online to see if there was a replacement blade or if I'd need to buy a whole new saw. Both are pretty expensive, but the blade is cheaper.I was worried it would be difficult to install the new blade and I'd end up with the saw and blade in pieces, but it's SUPER EASY to replace the blade! And man does the new one cut like crazy! I should have replaced the old blade long ago. It definitely had gotten dull.Anyway - it's easy to replace and will work much better than your old blade if it's dull.Highly recommend the Big Boy 2000 and replacement blade. It's the best!
