Consigliato

Installed this in my 2012 11" MacBook Air and it worked without any fuss. The SSD I used was the "Kingston A400 240G SATA M.2 2280 Internal SSD - SA400M8/240G".The downside is, like others have written, the SSD protrudes out more which makes the bottom case press on the SSD enough that the central clip won't snap in anymore. I'm using the laptop as a stationary iTunes sharing server so the tightness isn't a huge deal to me.

Used this to put an 500GB MX500 m.2 SATA drive in a Mid-2012 Macbook Air. I was skeptical that this would actually work since the third-party replacement drives with the proper connector built in cost a lot more, but I was able to install the OS from a USB stick and enable TRIM without any issues. Note that make sure you're pairing this with a SATA m.2 SSD, a NVME m.2 SSD won't work. Difficulty is on-par with any other laptop upgrade, there are YouTube videos for this exact upgrade.

Works perfect, although with an M.2 drive in it in a 2012 MacBook Air 11 inch you have to cram the drive in. Making it to where the drive is pressed against the metal side of the case underneath and you have to press more than I’d like to just to screw in the bottom case. If you’re an electronics person you might cringe at how you have to press the bottom case down where the drive is to screw in the bottom. It’s that same feeling when you feel like you’re using too much force on something plastic and you think “oh god this is going to break”

This adapter is for my 2012 Macbook Air plus a Samsung Evo 850 M.2 SSD. I am running a 512 GB SSD with MacOS X El Capitan in place of the factory 128 GB drive. The adapter does add a slight amount of thickness between the Macbook logic board and the undercarriage of the bottom panel. With the adapter and SSD installed, the bottom lid presses up against the SSD when tightened down. It fits just enough that the bottom cover screws on but it will add pressure to the flash memory chips. I hope that does not cause any long term damage to the chips on the SSD. It would be nice of the adapter was slightly recessed beyond the M.2 port to allow the SSD to sit more "deep" into the laptop. Once the MacOSX was installed, I had to use the trimforce enable command so that the OS can properly run TRIM support. As for shipping, my only complaint is that the shipping took a long time via China Post. Between 3 and 4 weeks.
