The mounting screws that came with the door knocker are for a 2-1/4" thick door. There was no mention of this in the product description. My door is 1-3/4" thick, as are most entry doors. Also, there were no installation instructions in the box. Am I expected to saw off the excess screw length to fit the door? Not worth the effort. I'm returning the door knocker tomorrow.

This item is a rarity these days. A true solid brass cast door accessory. Featuring a well polished finish and classic styling, your door will look fabulous. The only caution I have is that you need to take care in drilling the mounting holes. These must be parallel to each other through the door thickness. A drill jig to do this is recommended.

I neglected to ask the seller regarding the offset for drilling. It arrived safely, but the mounting packet of screws was opened and no instructions or manufacturer card was included.
