About this item

  • Molded eps interior with plush lining
  • Convenient exterior accessory pouch
  • Carrying handle and padded backpack straps
  • Durable 600 denier exterior layered with rigid foam
  • Heavy duty double pull zipper

The 1SKB-SC18 fits most dreadnought acoustic style guitars and offers the superior protection of the very same rigid foam inserts found in our hardshell guitar case line, but with the style and portability of a soft gig bag at an affordable price. SKB Soft Guitar Cases feature a rugged, weather resistant 600 Denier ballistic nylon exterior with a hard-core EPS foam interior to provide more substantial protection than a conventional gig bag. The exteriors feature two zippered pouches, one with numerous internal compartments for organized accessory storage, and an adjustable padded backpack strap for easy transport. The hard foam interiors are plush-lined and offer full neck support to cradle the guitar neck more securely than a conventional bag. 'With an affordable price, a lighter construction and enhanced portability with the padded back pack straps, these cases offer the ultimate in SKB protection for the guitarist on the go", stated Steph Maffei, SKB Product Manager.

I bought this case as a gift. In about 2 months, the seams on the case are starting to come apart. Despite the price of the case, it doesn't appear to be very durable.

I've purchased several of these cases over the years and they are truly the best for travelling with acoustic guitars. Fairly lightweight and very protective - the double 'backpack' straps are really essential for anyone travelling by train, air, transit or walking. If you don't have a car - you need this case. Very comfortable and minimal back strain, great for women players who want both hands free to carry other stuff. Love it!

Great case. Super soft lining inside, sturdy and love the pockets. At first we received the wrong case but the seller responded almost immediately and within 2 days we had the correct case. Great customer service!

I like the light weight of the case. But it was not long before the seams started splitting apart. Tried super-gluing it back together, to some success. I still use it occasionally but generally moved on to other cases.... Never crazy about how the lid does not prop open (as in the product photo) -- you are always fighting it with it trying to close when loading or unloading your guitar from it. So also then, if I wanted to use the case as a tip $$ receptacle, that ain't happening.

Not a bad case but one of the straps came off at the bottom, tricky to repair by yourself. Ended up scrapping it and buying the Kinsman Premium Dreadnought Guitar Bag which I can't recommend enough.

Excellent case... if you want the hands free of a backpack case with the durability of a hard case. Look no further. I would like to see more pocket options on the front but that's trivial. This this is Amazon and will protect your investment whether you have a $300 starter guitar or a $3000 pro level axe. But it.

This is a soft case with a solid feel. Makes you feel like your guitar is hard-case protected, but with light weight and convenient carry options. The zippers are solid, but don't move as smoothly as I'd like around corners.

I knew I wanted an SKB case because I've heard they make excellent case for guitars and when I got this in the mail I was not disappointed.First it holds my guitar well enough (If I ever take this on an airplane with me I may just pack the nooks with clothes to give it extra cushioning), there are plenty of compartments to hold any extra picks or capos. It has a handle on the side to carry your guitar by hand or backpack straps. This case is probably the closest you can get to a hard case while still being called a soft case. Would recommend to someone if you're wanting to protect your guitar but don't want to break the bank and buy a really nice hard case.

Six years later, the straps are pulling away from the case and the zippers on'y work half way around the case. So it's HEAVE HO for the case. I don't know what the life expectancy is for a soft case. But this failure seems premature, especially the zippers! The only thing that holds it together is the zippers; without them, you are out of luck. I like the concept and will shop for another case like this, just not another SKB.This case is well made and provides good protection. It's not a light case, but with the backpack type straps, it's a welcome alternative to my previous hardshell case. Note that this is not a "Gig Bag." It's much better padded than that style case.Pockets are handy, zippers are very good, but the left one sometimes gets "stuck" on a corner and the right one always get involved with the interior ribbon that keeps the lid from opening all the way when the case is open. You have to be sure to tuck the ribbon inside before you zip it. A bit of a nuisance.Note that you have to reach around to the back and completely unzip the case in order to open it. It's not as convenient as a hardshell case where the latches are usually at the front and right side. For the first time, I can carry my harmonica holder in the guitar case! Big plus. There's also the standard inside compartment, in case you were wondering. The balance is good for carrying by handle and with the aforementioned straps. But when you sit the case down to open it and take out the guitar, the case does tip backwards if there's anything of consequence in either pocket. No way to avoid it, and easy enough to either step on the handle before you take the guitar out or lean the back up against a wall or chair. Here's a testimonial; I was performing with a friend and packed the guitar on top of the stuff in the back of his Cherokee Jeep. But the pile wasn't flat, and when I opened the hatch at the gig, my guitar slid out onto the parking lot pavement! OUCH! But, I could tell as it was "landing" that the padding was perfectly sufficient to protect it. It landed on right edge of the case (just beyond where your right arm would be if you were playing it). No damage whatsoever. Thank you, SKB!

I bought this as a gift for my sister and she is really grateful for it. It is very light but still supportive enough to protect her guitar. It also has lots of compartments to store various equipment. The straps on the back make for easy traveling and leaves her hands free to carry other items. A very worthy investment.
