I wanted a pelican but could not justify the price. A search on the net for high quality alternatives turned up SKB. I bough the 9x7x6 model for my SA 1911 TRP and my S&W governor for travel (air). I really Like the build quality and its a bonus its made in the USA!!!!! I will buying another in this size and a long one to fit my rifle and shotgun. At work we bought a few pelicans to hold expensive computer forensic testing equipment (cloning and recovery, testing, RF devices, a Laptop size case and one for a digital SLR with lens kits)2 years ago. we are looking to out fit a few more teams and we will be going with SKB

SKB cases have always been my case of choice. Sure Pelican is the hot name in Injection Molded Super Cases... but with SKB you get the same quality(I think better) and features for less money.With this specific case: I love the latches. Positive, solid latching, yet easy to open. The foam inside these is of excellent quality, and will protect very well. I purchased this size for pistol transportation. You can easily fit a large semi-auto pistol in each layer... or maybe two smaller ones.Perfect case for the money. I got this here on amazon for $35!
