My old surge protector is indicating it has a problem. I decided to replace it with a combination surge protector and UPS. I haven’t needed a UPS for a number of years but power in our neighborhood has failed a couple of times in the past year. I want a device that will keep power to my cable modem, switch, router, and my NAS. None of those draw a lot of power so a small UPS will fill the bill.I appreciate that I can plug the TV and Apple TV into the surge-protected outlets. In the event of a power failure I would not use them. This UPS weighs about eight pounds (4 Kg) and has a total of seven outlets. Five of them can access the battery for backup power. The directions are pretty clear (although could be printed on a larger sheet of paper with larger type and drawings). Legible, though. My only criticism, after setup and use, is that the power adapters for my router and switch extend sideways over a second outlet. This UPS’s plug layout favors devices with a conventional cord and built-in power supplies for the device. Only my NAS has built-in power. Takes a bit of fiddling because the directions warn against plugging a power strip into any of the plugs on the UPS.I got my devices plugged in and charged the battery. Then I unplugged it. The alarm worked, the LED changed, and the devices continued to operate. Works as advertised.

It took a while to fully charge up after it arrived.Which is required before first use so that the battery is fully charged.Once I got that done, I switched it over to my cameras and it kept them on with NO interruption of any kind.I don't know yet as to how long it would keep going, but I think it would last several hours.Setup was literally plug in and be patient.

This is a compact and well-designed UPS that’s perfect for keeping your modem, router, or home office equipment running during short outages. I’m using it with my network setup, and it works exactly as expected. It includes 7 outlets — 5 for battery backup + surge protection, and 2 for surge-only. You also get two USB ports and a USB-C port, which is great for charging phones or tablets if the power’s out. There's even an RJ45 surge port to protect your network connection. The unit uses a 12V sealed lead-acid battery, which you can replace yourself with just a screwdriver — a nice long-term feature. It delivers simulated sine wave output (fine for most everyday devices) and has automatic voltage regulation (AVR) to smooth out brownouts without switching to battery. What really surprised me: there's free monitoring software available. You can install it from the SKE website to track power status, get alerts, log events, and set up automatic, unattended shutdown during an outage. It works with Windows, macOS, and Linux — just connect it via USB.It’s quiet, compact, and can sit vertically or horizontally. Even the power alarm can be muted with a single button press — great touch.✅ Compact and quiet✅ USB-C and RJ45 ports✅ Replaceable battery✅ Free power management software✅ AVR for smooth voltage control🟡 Simulated sine wave (not pure sine)🟡 Not enough wattage for large devicesFor the price, it’s a solid UPS with smart features and thoughtful design. Great value for home users, remote workers, or anyone who needs to keep their gear safe and running.

Seems well-made. It appears to be of the same build quality as the other major brands, which I own and currently use. I charged it before first use for approx 6 hours. I have not tested this under load yet, nor is it connected to a PC. I am using this as a battery backup for security cameras.
