The Skillmatics Fun Foil Solar System is a fantastic concept. The set is well organized and comes with a variety of items. However, I feel they could have included fewer extra foam shapes and offered more variety with the color sheets. Additionally, the larger planets really could use sheets that are double the size. I managed to make it work by patching together sheets of fun patterns, but I can imagine that a younger child might find it frustrating. This set is not ideal for a perfectionist child or one who struggles to sit still. I found the size of the sheets and the limited color options a bit stressful. Despite these concerns, I would still recommend the kit. One suggestion for making it even better is to purchase separate larger foil sheets if you're giving this as a gift. Overall, it's a creative and fun idea, and this is just my perspective on how to make it even better!

This was a lot of fun for the family. Colors are featured. Brought out our creativity. I think it's worth it.

We aren’t strangers to Skillmatics Foil Fun, but up until now, we had mainly used the kits for fun and to help with fine motor skills. My kids, ranging from 4 to 8 years old, absolutely love these kits. I was so happy to see that this particular kit took an educational twist on one of our favorite activities. It provided information about the planets and turned the project into a more cohesive craft by creating a mobile. Before this, we would usually make landscapes with animals or scenes with princesses, but with this kit, we were really able to dive deeper and learn so much more. I’m really pleased to see Skillmatics adding even more value to an activity our kids already love. There is a slight learning curve when your kids first use these kits, but once they understand the process it becomes second nature. Pro tip: we keep a discard bowl nearby for all the backsides of the stickers. My 4 year old immediately gets a "sticker trash bowl" before she starts any of these crafts.

My kids went absolutely crazy for this craft kit! They kept calling it “magic” as they peeled and pressed the foil on the planets. They were so proud of their creations. They wanted to show their finished artwork to everyone, and even FaceTimed Grandma in the middle of the project to show how they craft was going. The finished art looked so great that they want to turn their room into a space themed because the finished pieces looked so cool. The colors are vibrant, the process is easy and mess-free, and the end result is pretty impressive! It’s a great mix of crafting, learning, and fun. I also like that the included some facts on a printed paper for added learning about space and the planets. The only thing I would change is including a few more pieces of foil—we ran out a little faster than I expected, and a few pieces didn't get any foil. If we had been more careful with our foil usage, we would not have run out, so I don't blame the kit. But keep that in mind as you make your own.All in all, this kit is so fun and I highly recommend it!

This is an excellent, educational, and DIY craft that teaches kids about the universe. It’s recommended for kids aged four to twelve and is definitely worth the reasonable price. The assembled mobile of the solar system is made even more impressive with the artistic application of shiny pieces of colorful foil. To apply the foil, you simply have to peel and press it onto the mobile. This is a relatively involved but mess-free project that kids can work on independently or collaboratively. I love that the set includes clear, step-by-step directions along with some fun facts about the planets to keep expanding our knowledge. This craft is not only fun but also educational and engaging, resulting in a remarkably functional shiny end product that kids can proudly display and admire.

The Skillmatics Foil Fun Solar System Mobile Crafting Set was such an exciting find. My children love crafting and displaying their work. They were over the moon when they saw this crafting set. The set ended up providing hours of busy crafting time due to the steps of creation. The set came with a mobile topper which you put together to prepare for hanging after completing all the foil work. There are 8 planets along with meteors, stars and shooting stars, rockets and the sun. There are 100 foil sheets which sound like a lot until you start working on the project. I feel more and/or larger foil sheets would have prevented some of the frustration we faced while crafting this solar system. To design your planet and celestial additions, you peel a protective layer off of a sticky piece of foam. You place the desired color of foil onto your piece, rub, and then peel. This transfers the foil to your piece of the project. Due to the size of some of the planets, you will utilize more than one piece of foil on some. This is where it gets frustrating. If even a minute piece of bare plastic from the foil sheet touches the foam adhesive, it will stick (quickly) and will remove the adhesive entirely making that small section unable to accept a foil transfer. Due to the foil pieces not being as large as some of the planets, this is almost inevitable with younger children doing this craft. When you start running low on desired colors and attempt to use leftover sections, this can happen as well.Another frustration my children had was when some of the foil didn’t adhere completely. It’s hard to notice until you layer in another color and you then see it transferred onto those tiny bare spots which were not noticeable…until then. Despite the few drawbacks that caused the frustrations, my children had a lot of fun with the project and are already asking for another to do.As with most Skillmatics products, the quality is good and the education portion is great. We read the information booklet enclosed as we completed each section and did our own further research. All in all, it’s a fun project for kids who have patience for possible frustrations.
