Looks great and works like a charm. Keeps all the rooster tails off my back. Front could be a bit sturdier but for the price I can't complain. These are super lightweight so definitely worth the investment if you ride a lot.

There were only 2 small diagrams regarding installation of the fenders. That needs to be far more complete, with directions. The fenders had to be returned because the bolts that came with it were the exact length of the larger diameter bolt that secured the brakes. I think that is designed for bicycles that have not brakes, but rather a back-pedaling braking system and a hole in front and back for bicycle locks and fender supports, not most American bicycles which don't have it.

I guess I should've payed more attention to the description because the fenders came just like you see in the picture. 2 plastic fenders and that's all - no hardware, nothing to mount the fenders on the bike.We had to use what we had to fashion them on so they would stay. Not worth the buy to be quite honest.

I am reviewing both the SKS Velo 55 Cross Fender and the U-stay kit as I am using them both together. I installed these on my commuting bike which is 650b x 47. Since the bike was originally a hard-tail mountain bike there were no eyelets to mount the frame on the front. The fender did work without the mounts, but when traveling over bumps it was wobbly and made noises. I purchased a fender stay mount from Velo Orange. As you can see from the picture there is maybe 1mm clearance between the fender stay and the disk brake. Overall I am really happy with this purchase. Installation was easy, it took 30-45 minutes total and there were no major fit problems.[...]

Additional fitting detail would have helped. I spent a couple hours trying to find fenders that I thought would fit. SKS has a web site that I thought helped. Front fender fits fine, but the rear won't work on my Elite Motobecane with 700x40 tires. The problem is with the bottom clip. It seems too small for the tube and if it were forced, the fender would contact the tire. Might be able to bring a long bolt through the kickstand hole to hold a tube at that location and clip the bottom of the fender to it. Clearance will be tight, but it ... might work.

These are great fenders, something between the flimsy clip-ons you can get for $15 and the full- with braces fenders. They are made of a sturdy plastic and come with very sturdy hardware.I have an old 27" men's racing bike I use for a road bike. The back fender clips onto your seat tube (the clip seems a little flimsy where it connects to the fender, but we'll see) and then has a bracket that the brake-assembly screw goes through to attach it. With just a little finagling getting the fender between the brakes, the fender went on just fine. Fits my back wheel like a glove, not rubbing. And it seems very secure. The front fender was an ordeal to get on. I had to use a hack saw and utility knife to cut notches in the edges where the finder sits in the brake assembly to get enough clearance for me wheel. Then, I had to add a washer where the bracket goes in the brake assembly to get clearance for my handlebars to turn (the bracket was rubbing the fork crown so much that it prevented it from turning). Then, I had to bend the metal bracket slightly to get the fender to fit my wheel better. All said and done, the fender fits nicely, and seems very sturdy.I enjoy all this hands-on stuff, so I didn't mind spending several hours getting the fenders on the way I wanted them. The fenders are not universal, but if you know a bit about bikes (I had my bike-savvy boyfriend to assist) you can get them on. They look nice and feel sturdy once on. The description says that these are clip-ons, but there's no way I'mm taking them off now. And even if I wanted to, the permanent hardware that screws on the bike does not easily come out of the plastic part of the fender.I would definitely recommend these as a cheap(er) and lighter alternative to full fenders, but only if you want to put a little work into custom fitting them.Haven't ridden with them, but they look like they provide good coverage.

I like these fenders a lot. They're fairly cheap, and they do the job well. If you're looking for full coverage, dont buy these, you'll end up soaking anyone riding behind you, and if you're riding off road, you may want the u-stay kit because they bounce around quite a bit, making a good amount of noise. However, my bike doesn't have mounts drilled for the u-stays, and these fenders work just fine for me. They're great for the price, and I doubt they'll break unless I do something really stupid.
