This steering wheel is a functional replacement for the steering wheel on my 46" Ariens riding mower, model 960460, that I broke. It is hard plastic and does not contain the nice, rubber coating on the original steering wheel. The invoice for the product even describes it as "Hard Rim Steering Wheel". If Amazon had described it that way, I might not have bought it. Maybe I can find a nice steering wheel cover for it.
