The steel thread rolling screw for use in metal has a black oxide finish and a pan head with a star drive. Steel is often used in applications where strength is the primary consideration. The black oxide finish offers mild corrosion resistance and lubricity. The pan head has a flat top and short vertical sides with a rounded top edge. The star drive, also called a Torx drive, has a six-pointed indentation that provides a large contact area for the driver, resisting slippage better than a Phillips or slotted drive. A star drive requires use of a Torx driver for installation and removal.
Thread cutting and thread rolling screws, two types of self-tapping screws, are threaded fasteners that create a mating thread in the wall of a hole. The two screws differ from each other in the way that they create the threads. Thread cutting screws cut the wall of the hole to create the thread, creating material chips that need to be cleared away from the hole to prevent clogging. Thread rolling screws, also called thread forming screws, do not remove material but instead press against the wall of the hole to displace the material and form the threads.

I build PCs and very frequently strip phillips heads, so I decided it was finally time to put my foot down and do something about it. These, obviously, were my choice to replace the standard 0.25 inch #6-32s. The length is almost close to double, and the head is a hair smaller than the washer you'd find on case screws. You could easily hit these with a bench grinder and shorten them if they don't fit all the way, but I have yet to find the need to. Haven't stripped a single one so far.

Bought these for a Trijicon RMR. WAY better than the factory aluminum screws that break and strip easily. These are a must have if you run an RMR. Be warned*** this is a pack of 100 so do not buy more than one.
