About this item

  • Used as higher end applications on gasketing and seals for pumps
  • Resilient to alkaloids and detergents
  • Mild resistance to petroleum
  • Country of origin: United States

EPDM has excellent weather resistant characteristics.  Commercial grade EPDM rubber is less rigid and formable than EPDM roofing rubber.  High pressure lines and pipe gaskets use EPDM rubber because of its resistance to ultraviolet light and temperature cycling.  UV and temperature extremes cause most rubber material to become cracked and brittle, but EPDM will provide longevity for these types of scenarios.

I make flappers out of this material (internal flappers that sit at a 45 degree angle). I have to replace them now and again, but this makes that very economical to do.

Good piece of rubber... OK, what else can I say about this stuff? It's just a sheet of thin rubber, great for making gaskets.I purchased this item to make rubber gaskets to repair vintage (i.e., very old 50 to 120 year old) fountain pens, and so far, it has met my needs. It cuts easily with a hollow punch tool (the type used to cut leather), and it is just the right hardness and flexibility to maintain an ink-proof seal in my fountain pens.I'm happy with it.

My little dog's winter booties have lousy soles--in fact they wore out in about a week last winter. So, last year I got some vinyl fabric and shoe goo. The shoe goo by itself worked better than the vinyl fabric, but needed to be reapplied every month or so. I came across this rubber material here at Amazon, ordered some and it is working out nicely. Cuts easily, wears well and my little guy gets much better traction with this as opposed to shoe goo. It seems to grip the ice and snow pretty well. I have a lot left over. It could be used as padding for a keyboard or lamp or used to pad the drawer of a tool chest, etc. Good purchase.
