I've run out of file folders and need more for my paperwork organization. These file folders hold letter size (8.5 x 11") paper. The tab is on the side of the folder, which allows them to be seen on a shelf from the side. These folders seem to be made for medical records, but anyone can use them.The folders work well, and when they expand, they will hold dozens and dozens of pieces of paper. The folder seems sturdy enough and should hold when full of paperwork. Smead is a reputable brand and it's great that the folders are made in the US. The price is a bit on the high side but you get a lot of folders in the box.

These folders will be useful in most home or offsite office settings. The durable construction comes with a 'w' shaped bottom that can expand up to one and one-half inches. No more messy files, no more looking for lost letters. Note the folders are for letter sized items with the tabs are located on the side. The company, Smead, has been in business for over 100 years. These folders are a good indication why they have this outstanding reputation.

These are very nice sturdy file folds which expand at the bottom for extra fat files. Good quality - no issues there. I did not realize they will not fit in a normal size file cabinet. Looking at the product description again I can't find any measurements except "letter size". Perhaps those more experienced with files know that this type of file is always larger but I didn't. Thus I removed a star. Fine if you can use them.

These are very good, durable and well made file folders. The “w” shape on the bottom allows me to increase the amount of papers I can keep in a file folder. I really appreciate the reinforced tabs at the points of greatest wear…that means they can handle the wear and tear of us constantly accessing certain folders.I love that these are made in the USA from a company that has been manufacturing office supplies for over 100 years - that means they have it down to a fine science. I have found file folders at a lesser cost from other companies, but they don’t have the durability or longevity of these.I will not need any file folders or office supplies for a while, but when I do, I’ll be checking out Smeads offerings first. Recommended.

The folders are solid and thick and very durable. The best part is that the expanding "W" fold at the bottom of the folder. The bottom opens smoothly unlike other brands and stays it shape, the only issue I have is that the file tab is on the side and not the top. These work well in offices like for doctors where you see the ends as compared to a file drawer. Just be cautious of that before buying them. For 50 manilla folders it is very heavy showing how sturdy they are. The box it came in was smashed in and the cover was too loose but the packaging box was perfect. I highly recommend these file folders in the right situation.

These Smead manilla file folders are excellent storage and organizing tools. With their "W" fold at the bottom, they can either hold a single sheet of paper or expand to a whopping 1 1/2 inches of storage space (see photo). They're made from heavyweight cardboard which resists ripping and tearing -- this is especially important when you're packing a bunch of stuff into one folder. And the side tab is reinforced so it can withstand even more wear and tear.Of course, you should be aware that these are LETTER-size folders, not legal size. And they are manilla folders with a SIDE TAB, so they may not fit in an ordinary letter-size file cabinet. Make sure you're ordering the right product.But if you need LETTER-size storage folders with a SIDE TAB, which can hold a lot of documents and should endure a lot of use, these Smead manilla file folders are just what you're looking for!

This review is of the product and not of my use, though I should preface this by saying sometimes I have put too many documents into a standard file folder. One solution is file folders with expansion capability. I should have selected expansion top-tab folders because I keep my files in a cabinet, but I obtained the Smead 1 ½” expansion end-tab manila folders. The end-tab folders, where the end-tabs are labeled for identification, are kept in shelves. Because I keep my files in a filing cabinet, the end tab folders do not fit. I removed the end-tabs and so I am able to use these expansion manila folders. While these end-tab folders are not ideal for me, these Smead Expansion file folders are made of durable materials and are of a very high quality.
