These are made of a thicker folder material--thicker than the typical folder so they should last years. The bottom that adjusts to hold different amounts of papers is a different material, but I think it's also a very durable material, maybe even more so. These are the gold standard for file folders.

The expansion creases are a game changer. I work in a office and we use the generic manilla file folders. Guess what? They get overfilled and because of the shape, they start climbing out of the folder the fuller it is like some sort of monster seeking revenge. Having a flat bottom layer is a godsend when you're stuffing the equivalent of a college textbook into each folder.

These are marvelous folders for longer term storage of documents or papers that you need to get into. Being the thicker "board-style" cardboard, they are durable and will not wear down or get flimsy like the average manila file folders. And, with the wide flexible bottom, They store more paper while still protecting all of the edges of the paper. I'm already looking at getting more when these are full...

These file folders are an incredible weight, I know they will hold up well as files you pull out and use regularly unlike the thin one single piece tan folders. The color is also very pleasant to the eye in the filing cabinet as they even just look high quality. I have not owned them very long currently so will update review if I find the durability to be untrue.

It’s the time of year for going thru files and looking forward to the next year. I have decided to replace all of my files and start fresh. I used this brand in my last job and really liked the quality. This set is not inexpensive due to the fact the files are so well constructed and designed to last for years of continual use. They are legal sized and allow for a variety of items to sit neatly. In them. I would gladly pay this price for such good quality files. Highly reccomended

Up to now, I've kept my papers in manila envelopes in those green hanging files. This is how I used to try to be organized by subject at least, back when paper was a bigger part of my life. Now mostly my file cabinet is a museum of tax returns, divorce documents and long defunct bank accounts I'll gradually shred and part ways with. But in the meanwhile, too often my filling techniques of those folders was too big for their britches and they're overstuffed to the point of breaking the hanging file. These sit flat on the floor of the cabinet drawer, so are lower than the envelopes suspended in hanging files. But they survive. And that is what's key to better organizing and lack of aggravation that I have to replace a hanging folder and separate envelope contents into more than one envelope....Quality of these file folders seems about right, about what you'd expect. Not plated in 24K gold, not falling apart. Folders.

So, these are basically plain file folders with an expandable bottom. They'll be useful inside expanding hanging folders, which is what I plan on using them for.The only issue is these are pretty wide, as in - tall when set on a table. There's really nothing holding the contents inside and my guess is they'll all spill out. You'll definitely need those large file bands for these. Would've been nice to have those included but they're not that expensive or hard to find. These are well made and sturdy. No rips, tears, discolorations, weird smells or any other disqualifying factors. I'd order these again and will definitely order from SMEAD again.

very nice. hold a good amount of paper and expand nicely. Only thing I don't like is that the expansion part of the folder is a different kind of material, not as solid, and the folder itself "shifts." Kind of hard to explain...
