The angle works but is not a tight fit. Fits against the 2x4 but where it pushes into the baluster there is a tiny space to accommodate the angle. The sharper the angle the less square it lays. There is no SNAP and Lock it just fits under the holder and pushes in place. It is a tight fit and very hard to push on and have to use a flat head screw driver to remove it. The stairway is not easy to do! The flat deck is doable for a homeowner with a lot of experience in DIY. I had to hire a carpenter to do the stairway and make it come out good. The hype of the advertising as anyone can do it is Bull. The stairway looks great now and is very strong, but only because I hired a really good carpenter. He notched the bottom of all the angles of the 2x4 so the 2x4 fits tight against the post. Otherwise, a big point sticks out beyond the bracket, and it leaves a 1/8 inch space between the post and the 2x4 and looks unprofessional. The more angle you have the bigger the point sticks out. I am a big DIY person and became very frustrated trying to do it right. Paid pro 2500.00 dollars at 50.00 an hour to do it right and I helped him. So it cost me 1500. for balusters and stair adapters. 3000.00 for 8x10 deck with a 2nd story stairway with a 4x4 landing between stairs.. Not including deck and lumber. They charged 14.95 for shipping of each box of stair parts the weighed less than one pound. The balusters shipped free. I used 2 boxes of the 10 packs. Not very ecumenical. I was missing some screws and 4 of the balusters were scraped up in the boxes.
