This ointment has been a lifesaver for my cat! She has sensitive skin and occasionally gets itchy spots or minor irritations, and this salve works wonders. It’s gentle, easy to apply, and starts soothing right away without any harsh smells or greasy residue. I love that it contains hemp and other natural ingredients, giving me peace of mind about what I’m putting on her skin. Plus, she doesn’t seem to mind it at all, which is a big win! If your cat deals with hot spots, bug bites, or general skin discomfort, I highly recommend giving this a try.

My cat and I both *love* how this ointment smells: we take turns sniffing it when I open the jar to apply it to his bald chin morning and evening. He sits up and holds out his face for it and then licks it, which doesn't worry me because of the quality of the ingredients. We've been using it twice a day for about 2.5 months now and have barely made a dent in the jar's contents because a little goes such a long way. This has been an excellent addition to our cat-care routine, and we recommend it highly.

TldrPros:Non greasy, absorbs quickly, inoffensive to most noses (smells faintly of honey)ConsSome cats may be offended by smell or idea of having the salve applied and won't allow it.NeutralThe jar is tiny, but as only a small amount is typically needed at a time, it should last longer than the size of the jar might make you think.I have 3 indoor only cats, yet have somehow been battling fleas for over a year (since the HOA stopped treating the lawn *sigh*). I've covered the house in diatomaceous earth, used other diy options, hired an exterminator, treated with pro grade flea killers purchased online, and the cats have all been on at least 1, sometimes 2 highly rated flea treatment at all times (under vet supervision). And yet... The problem persists. My girls are mostly unbothered, but my male is allergic and tends to chew and scratch, scratch and chew until he bleeds. My hope in ordering this salve was that it would help sooth his biggest hotspots, now while they heal, and going forward before they can become a scabby mess. Unfortunately, he won't let me apply it. Initially I thought maybe opening the jar that was scaring the big chicken away, but I've since tried calling him over after opening, and the instant he gets close, his nose wrinkles and he races away. To my nose, it smells faintly of honey, and neither of my girls send to mind the scent, but the one who could use it wants nothing to do with it.I'm going to keep trying though, and will update my review if I'm able to acclimate him.

I don't think this did any good. Put it on places where the cat would over groom and we'd hold him in place a little while and make sure to rub it in. It's like the stuff is a cat magnet and now all the cats were trying to lick it.

I've left a neutral review for this product as I was not able to fully test it. We have a cat with an anxiety problem that has pulled out some fur near her tail...we were hopeful that this salve would help, and it may have eventually. We applied the salve 2-3 times. Each time noticing the very strong odor to this salve. The third time, the odor triggered my wife to have a rather severe asthma attack, her worst in a long while. Please note, I do not in any way feel there is anything wrong with this salve. It is not marketed as odor free, and being an online purchase, there is not way to gauge the smell prior to purchase. I just want to save someone the hassle of ordering this if, like my wife, they are sensitive to strong odors.

I really like this stuff for any small injuries that you might get on any of your household pets. It goes on easily and it absorbs nicely. If the animal does lick it off it is not going to hurt them. Although you should definitely try to keep them from licking it off for at least 5 minutes or so. It is good at speeding up the healing process. My animals seem to find it very soothing. In an areas that they might lick a lot, once this is applied and absorbed in they seem to leave the area alone much better. Which tells me that that spot is not bothering them as much as it had been. I don't mind how it smells but there is a definite herbal medicine sent to it. Definitely a product that I will be keeping in the medicine cabinet for my critters

My 11 year old cat has been itching above both of her eyes below her ears for some time now. But it is the first time I really noticed just how bad it has been getting. It is almost completely bald right there with a couple of small scabs on each side where she had been scratching too hard. I thought I should better do something. Even if it is just to relieve her itching. I came across this that said it was just for cats. Maybe dogs too I can't remember now but it had a picture of a cat on the front. It says it is for hot spots, dermatitis, and itching. I think we hit the nail on the head with that. I am not sure how I feel about hemp, but the all the other ingredients are natural and seem to be good. Plus, I know hemp is used for pain also. So, it is worth a try. When I opened it up it first smelled like honey to me. Then I got a smell of something else. It didn't seem that bad to me at first but the more and more I got a scent of it the more it bothered me. It is pretty strong for what it is. I put it on my cat, and she doesn't seem to mind. However, how would I know. I haven't seen her itching that area lately since she has had it on so that is good. But when I go anywhere near her, I can smell it, and it bothers me. It's not a real icky smell or chemical smell or anything like that. It is just different and strong. As far as continuing to use it I am not sure yet. I have put it on her twice. I will try it on her one more time and then check to see what it looks like in that area. I know hair growth and stuff can take a while but if I don't see any improvement whatsoever such as the healing of the scabs or the skin looking more hydrated, I might stop using it. Just because of the smell of it. But that could just be a personal problem. I don't urge others not to at least try it.
