Soss wood router guide template. Soss invisible hinges now can be installed easier and faster than ever before. Each router guide template is individually handcrafted for exactness. The template is held on the door and jamb with nails; guide pins locate the deep mortise. The edges of the template assure a perfect outline when used with Soss RGB100 template guide and lock nut, or the porter-cable template guide #42024 (lock face routing) and #42237 (lock nut). 3/8" Router bit size.

I am a firm believer is using the right template for the job. These jigs are perfect for the job. For SOSs hinges, to get the job done right, you need to use the correct template for your router. This is what you need for #103 series.

Poorly engineered product. The board itself was warped. And the cutout on it was not accurate for the hinges. I had some that were cut too tight and others that were loose. Also if you need to cut a hinge on one end of a box or piece the pins in the jig don't work. Soss needs to go back to the drawing board.

This is a good little jig... for one or two hinges. If you're planning on using this in the shop for production you'll likely be a bit disappointed. High end this isn't. It's poplar and unplated screws so buyer beware. It's easy to develop "slop and wobble" in such a soft wood when running those screws in and out several times. Call it a rather pricey template for your own shop-made production jig. I used a piece of 3/4" phenolic plywood and a couple of 304SS decking screws. I also found the spacing of the screws for the deep mortise to be a bit tight (~1/32") for the #103 hinges and adjusted accordingly.

Excellent hinge for certain special applications, but not for amateurs because it requires precision measurements.
