I hate cutting my homemade sourdough bread by hand because I'm really bad at getting even slices. This thing helps quite a bit with that. I'm able to position my bread knife nicely to get even slices now, and I really enjoy that. Now I can make sandwiches effectively with my homemade bread.

This bread slicer came in a sturdy box and the box was fine when I got it. But the odd thing was when I opened the box, I noticed that my item was dirty. It wasn't from shipping but it looked like it was dirty before it was packaged. I don't think it was used but it seems like it came that way from the manufacturer. (minus 1 star)Other than that it does its job and allows you to cut your bread in even slices. I use it for sandwich bread. One thing to note is that if you use this for sandwich bread like I do then you need to use a longer knife. It has to be long enough for the loaf and the two sides of this guide.I like to give out loaves of bread and this makes the bread look nice so it's worth it for me. But I didn't like the fact that it came dirty.

Got this slicer four days ago for my homemade bread. Its adjustable width accommodates both my round sourdough and rectangular sandwich loaves nicely. When working from home, I can quickly prepare uniform slices for lunch without the usual mess. The crumb tray catches most debris but some still escapes onto the counter. Had to practice proper technique as my first attempts resulted in slightly compressed slices. The plastic construction feels adequate but not premium - needed to be gentle when slicing denser loaves. Folds easily for storage in our crowded cabinet space. Works as advertised for moderate use, though I need a sharper knife than expected to get clean cuts. Overall, a practical addition for casual bakers in small kitchens.

So... this might work great for regular sandwich bread, but I make sourdough. And sourdough has that nice, crunchy crust on the outside. The guides are too flimsy and sides too wobbly. I had to hold on tight just to keep everything lined up. I do like how it catches all of the crumbs and that it's adjustable in width.

My sister has started baking and has especially focused on sourdough bread. This slicer gadget thingy helps her to create sandwich slices for her meals and is very easy to use and store. It is a nice addition to her kitchen.

I hate cutting home made bread because the pieces never come out even or the thickness that I want. Now I can cut it no problem!! The pieces are exactly the thickness I want, and they're all the same thickness. This is so practical. This is a must have if you make bread from home and don't have access to a slicing machine.

Ease of Assembly & Disassembly: 8/10Value: 10/10Quality: 10/10Tools needed: noneI love buying/making homemade bread but hate slicing it. I always end up with too thin or too thick and uneven slices. I waste too much bread honestly. So I was happy to order this bread cutting guide. It is made out of plastic and easily clicks together. Instructions are provided, if needed. Once assembled, you can disassemble and all five pieces fit nicely together (last photo). It clicks together when stacked, making it easy to store on its side or lie flat. Those with arthritis may have some trouble with disconnecting the side pieces. All of the pieces can be easily washed or tossed in the dishwasher, making cleanup a breeze. Also included is a tray to catch all the bread crumbs from slicing. Great feature that both keeps your counter clean and allows you to add crumbs from the tray to any stored bread crumbs. Nothing goes to waste here! It practically pays for itself with all the bread you save from freestyle cutting. The slicing guide is pretty durable and fits all types of breads. I use it several times a week. Having a long serrated knife works best as the cutting guides are 6.5" apart. Lightly holding the plastic sides made for a more stable cut, otherwise the sides wobbled a little.Highly recommend to all bread lovers!

I just started buying bread from a local company and am horrible at cutting uniform slices. I ordered this mostly to help with slicing pieces I could use for sandwiches without butchering them. This has not only the thin slices, but three different sizes that I can do uniform cuts with. It feels like good quality plastic and fits together nicely. The way that it stacks together makes storage take up less space and keeps the smaller parts contained inside. It is a little wobbly while slicing, but overall it has been a huge convenience for me as I intend to keep buying the local loaves of fresh bread. The crumb catcher is better than when i was using a cutting board also.

I've been using a bamboo bread slicer. I like that the bamboo one stores in a smaller space and doesn't need to be taken apart, but of course, it is not all that hygenic and can't go in the dishwasher. This says it can and is built strong. The issue is that it can be difficult to pull the sides back out after assembled... maybe it will loosen up over more use. I was using the thinnest slicing guide as well and some pieces were a bit too thin and others were how I wanted, but that may be more of an user error than product issue. Overall, it is nice.
