Spectracide Pruning Seal helps trees and smaller plants from attack that can enter through pruned areas. It also effectively seals and waterproofs clay pots to avoid mineral stains, along with wooden planters, rain gutters, roof flashings and small sections of asphalt driveways. The waterproof aerosol spray also be used to coat the underside of a lawn mower deck. To use Spectracide Pruning Seal, shake well and hold can upright 6-9 inches from the area to be sprayed. Spray in short bursts to avoid dripping and runoff. Clean the nozzle after use. When treating damaged limbs, cut back to sound wood first. When sealing the inside of planters, spray lightly to avoid dripping. When sealing small cracks or seams, make two applications – apply the second coat of Spectracide Pruning Seal after the first has completely dried. See label for complete directions.

Here in Commifornia, the exterminator company’s are not allowed to spray pesticides above their heads. Wear a mask and spray this anywhere above on your house to rid of those spiders!

This is essentially spray-on tar. It seals the cut branch stems and/or damage to tree bark from pests (woodpeckers, deer, etc.). However, it spits, sputters, and drops blow with the wind. Wear gloves, long sleaved (old) shirts, face & eye protection, and be VERY careful which way the wind is blowing. Drops easily blow 6-8 feet while still wet and can spatter on cars, the house, etc. I've made the mistake of forgetting once or twice, and have the ruined T-shirts to prove it.

This pruning seal is the best we have ever used in our tree business. Priced right and always comes out of the can....no hardening or stoppage at the nozzle. Covers well and doesn't run (unless you hold it too long in one place.)

We live in a forest, and some trees along our driveway have been damaged. I spray the wounds with this pruning seal and it keeps out insects and fungi. The trees have a chance to heal and to survive. It's a bit pricey - but it works.

I use it on big projects like the magnolia tree that was just damaged in the recent ice storm. The spray hits a wider area, and I can spray further up the tree without the use of a ladder. I used it after it was damaged in a tornado in 2008, and the tree is still alive. I have sprayed down the damaged areas again, and hopefully the tree will still be around several more years.
